backfire and control burn methods would be the most obvious.
Deforest: Education--Teaching that one must preserve to have and use. Must be a method to the madness..
replant and control the areas of cutting....
selection..rather than total scalping...

Courland, Australia does not need deforestation. What they need to do is stop listening to these so called do good-er weirdo's , and return to controlled back burning, to clear the fuel on the ground that fuels fires. The other problem is the Australian native trees, Eucalyptus???? They have oil in them, that explode out of the tree under heat, and that also fuels fires. Get rid of te fuel on the ground, and the trees don't suffer.

Controlled burns will help with brush fires
Deforestation - Trees grow back. In the US, lumber companies aer planting 2 trees for each tree cut down.
