It's not offensive to me,but tongue rings don't bother me. I am offended by dirty,smelly waiters. As long as you are clean and professional,then tongue rings don't matter.

I feel that if you must wear a tongue ring you should not be a waiter. It is not professional looking and makes you look like a punk. Get a job at a tattoo parlor or carnival.

It's kind of like how you feel when someone eats with their mouth open. It's never pleasant, but especially sickening when you are eating.
The metal draws your attention to the inside of someone else's mouth -- which is obviously part of the objective.
The impact will be sometimes be reflected in the size of the tip that is left.

That will gross me out. Whether I want it or not I would think of the germs collected around the piercing. Not very pleasant thought before I'm going to have my meals.

Because it is gross and I don't need to be any more concerned about about the freak serving my food. I barely eat out anymore after I saw the movie "Waiting"

I wouldn't allow you to serve me, if it was in a decent restaurant, you'd be reported to the manager and another waiter would be requested....or" me and my money" would go elsewhere.

Because we can see something in their mouth...so if you want the job...get rid of the piercing!
