I recently purchase a heavy bag. I am looking for a grueling way to work out on it, that doesn't take too long. Something that builds up speed and power fast. Thanks for answers.

If your looking to learn how to box by using it then the most important thing would be to work your jab. Pretend the heavybag is an openent. Throw the jab as fast as you can and make sure you retract the punch as fast as you throw it. I usually mix up fast combinations with some hard body punching. Never just stand in one spot and hit it. Stay on your toes and work the jab. Throw some jabs, jabs and more jabs. I wouldn't start off hitting it hard right from the start you might hurt your knuckles and it'll take some time to toughen them up. I reccomend going to everlast.com and getting some mexican style handwraps and learning how to wrap your hands. Then get some training gloves. All together shouldn't cost you more than $35-$40. Hope this helps.

If you already know the basic punches and combinations, all you have to do is hit the bag non-stop for three to four rounds at 3 minutes per round with thirty seconds rest in between. Make sure that you throw your punches correctly, that is, short and crisp. If 3 to 4 rounds aren't enough for you, then go as many as you wish.
