Matthew 16
1The Pharisees and Sadducees came to Jesus and tested him by asking him to show them a sign from heaven.
2He replied,[a] "When evening comes, you say, 'It will be fair weather, for the sky is red,' 3and in the morning, 'Today it will be stormy, for the sky is red and overcast.' You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times. 4A wicked and adulterous generation looks for a miraculous sign, but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah." Jesus then left them and went away.

No, I don't believe that it applies to us, today. It is a scripture whereby Jesus is telling the Pharisees and Sadducees that the Son of God was standing right there, but because of their blindness they couldn't see Him. Jesus did miracle after miracle, gave incisive teaching after incisive teaching, and they still couldn't see that He was the living embodiment and fulfillment of the scriptures they studied.
So he told them that the only more miraculous sign they would get to clue them into who He really was would be the "sign of Jonah." As Jonah was 3 days and 3 nights in the belly of the great fish, before he was spewed back onto shore, so would Jesus be 3 days/nights in the earth, before resurrecting, and appearing again.
If that wasn't enough for them, then they were out of luck. As this already happened, historically, we are no longer looking for it to happen in present times.

How very perspective of you,It certainly does apply more so now, then in the last 2,000 years. The fact that 2 Tim.3:1-5 applys to
us living RIGHT NOW,yet the majority of mankind are blinded to the
truth of this.Just as in Jesus, the proof was there that he was the
promised Messiah, yet most did not believe. Im sure you have heard
people (in this forum)say;"If there is a God, why does'nt he show
himself to us?" Not even realizing that he has done just that in the
pages of the Bible. So the parallel is there.

This verse means that anybody who listens to Jesus, what He says, and applies it to their existence (meaning definitely DOING what He says) then he will exhibit precisely what you're able to correctly known. it rather is the reason He sent us the Holy Spirit. he's the advise who will "remind" us what Jesus' words mean. Jesus is saying throughout this verse that till you have a "beginning place" (God) it rather is nice and advantageous to furnish you self-discipline, no longer something on your existence is maintain. human beings do no longer understand that they actually won't be able to do something on their own. as quickly as something 'tempting' or 'appropriate' or 'ordinary' comes into their existence, they're going to immediately do it with out thinking and could no longer evaluate the outcomes. in the event that they have no stability, no self-discipline, or any limitations, there is no longer something combating them from shifting into hardship or looking a manner out of the situation they have been given themselves into. youngsters at present haven't any real 'thought' of God and Jesus via fact they have been presented to the 'international and that is techniques' lots too early of their existence. In different words, little ones initiate out in at present's society with "too lots" of each little thing. Too many toys, too many video games, too lots television, too many "issues". This vogue only keeps turning out to be via fact the baby gets older. they choose further and further issues. father and mom are rather to blame - they do exactly no longer spend the time with their little ones anymore, particularly as a 'family individuals'. father and mom use the instruments (television, video games, etc) as 'babysitters', even while they are residing house! this variety, father and mom can flow approximately doing the flaws they like to do. my own sister did this to her toddlers while they have been youthful. Now that they are youngsters, my nieces choose rather each little thing - blackberrys, iPads, laptops, and each new tech gadget that comes alongside. that is basically marvelous! i'm so grateful and grateful to God that I on no account had little ones. the large subject with regard to the Bible is that even nonetheless it rather is written in language that would seem 'previous', particularly to youngsters and youngsters, the concepts and standards in it are undying.

Yes, it tells us today that the truth has been revealed, does not need to be revealed again and that it is to us to decide what/who to trust in.
