The amount of women...or usually young girls on here that ask "do boys like tattoos on girls?" or something similar, like "is it ok for girls to have tattoos?" drives me crazy. I know I don't have to look at them, but I KNOW they're out there. If a man wants a tattoo he'll go out, have it and be considered more of a man, if anything at all. But still, there's these women who are out to please the male sex over themselves, why should we be frowned upon for doing what we enjoy? If anyone out there is the right man he'll love a girl ink and all. Saying women shouldn't and it's ok for men is sexist, full stop. I'm 22, female and have alot of tattoos, I'm smart and have my own business, it isn't a trashy thing to have tattoos, it's not on display for anyone elses judgement. It's NOT. It's for me. Girls with enough conviction to know what she wants can pull anything off including big tattoos.

Sadly, and summed up well by several, men (mostly) are not willing to let women be their equals, and that means they need to put women down whenever they assert themselves. We're still very patriarchal; just look at the percentage of men as CEOs of big companies.
IMHO, anyone - woman or no - who faces up to that BS with a great big FU rocks. How you do it is unimportant, as long as you do it somehow.

I feel the same way. I have 5 tattoo's and 6 piercings. People always look at you differently. I got my tongue pierced 2 weeks ago and I can't believe the reactions I have gotten from it. I'm the same person I was before I got my tongue pierced, but most people just look at me now like I'm a slut. I did it because I wanted to do it just like with all my tattoos. Its my body I don't go around showing them off to just anyone. All of mine can be hidden if need be. And what does having a tattoo have with getting a job? If you are qualified for the job then it shouldn't matter what you look like on the outside. Should you not get a job because you have a skin disorder or because you have a birth mark? To me its the same thing. It shouldn't matter what the outside looks like..it should only count for whats on the inside.

I think it's a woman's personal choice what she chooses to do with her body. No-one should let other people's views and opinions dictate how they live their lives. As for breast implants being for the sole purpose of pleasing men, that's not true at all. Having worked in the cosmetic surgery industry, I can tell you that the vast majority of women have implants because they truly are unhappy with the shape or size of their breasts. Yes, there are some women that may have breast implants for furthering a career in the entertainment adult industry or thinking it will make them more attractive to males, but this is only a small percentage of women. Most women just want to feel better about themselves, many of these women are married or in stable relationships and not looking for the approval of men. They may be insecure with being very small chested and just want to feel more proportionate and be able to fill out bras properly. For some women, breast feeding has left their breasts droppy and lacking volume and they just want to restore their shape. You also have women that have had a mastectomy and need reconstructive surgery, which is often done with the use of implants. It's easy to pre-judge, but It's not always as black and white as people think.

I wonder this alot. I have 6 tattoos myself and 2 more coming but no matter what I wear I'll always look "biker-ish". I think girls that lower back tattoos aren't too bad but its when you start putting them other places that you start to get judged and looked upon differently. As much as I hate to admit it, it's true. I look like I'm trying to be "tough" or "trashy". And my tattoos are NOT grungy or "bold". Heck one of them is a maple leaf, but it's on my arm. It bugs me but we can't really be looked upon as "nice" despite what we're wearing. I wear skirts and tank tops in the summer but it doesn't matter becuase the tattoo has the "toughie" look.
A tattoo totally changes your image.

i absolutely agree with you but unfortunately society has brainwashed much of america, both men and women into believing that men can do more and be more than women can. INCLUDING but definitely not limited to tattoos. i love my tattoos and would never seek aproval from anybody including the opposite sex. people who do or don't do things for or because of other people are the people who end up being truly unhappy in life and that is sad. i am definitely not one of those people. i say if you don't like my tattoos close your eyes!

I don't look down on women with tattoos, I look up to them. I think it's awesome, and sexy as hell. I got my 1st 1.5 weeks ago, and can't wait to get my next one. I feel very strongly that it doesn't matter what gender you are, if you like something, and it doesn't hurt anyone else, go for it. Girls can ride dirt bikes, and guys can do ballet. Whatever makes you happy is what counts, not how others view it.

I think society looks down on both men and women when it comes to tattoos. I also think it is changing but far more acceptable for men than women still - it seems it takes more time for us. Sad, and no viable reason for it.
