If you don't know what plato's analogy of the cave is you shouldn't be reading this.
Anyway, if we only see this world, and can't sense the other, then don't we begin to doubt? That doubt turns into disbelief. We cannot see air, but we can feel it, this is why we believe it exists. A single sense. But now, if I say I feel the presense of God, then I would be laughed at. Why? Because they cannot sense it. I would be declared insane. So that would mean that the perceptions of many would determine reality. If that were true, then that would mean that the perceptions determine who is sane, and insane, and that reality is not fixed. It is more of an opinion. Many Atheists act as if Science has all the answers but yet many scientists once believed that flight was impossible. One hundred years ago I could have quoted the best scientists in the world that dinosaurs were cold-blooded, slow moving creatures.
Evolution is still only a theory, and has not been proven.

Yep, you can perceive your own personal reality complete with a personal all-powerful best buddy... and NAH, that's not insane!

Oh, and by the way, YES, evolution is a theory... just not the kind of theory you think it is. Read up on evolution, kiddo. It's theory AND fact.

You are wrong on so many levels.

Air exists, it can be measured and observed. It is not a "perception of reality". So, your first statements lead nowhere. You also have no grasp of what science is. Science is always questioning and changing as knowledge increases. Religion, on the other hand, is stagnant. It cannot adapt to increases in knowledge. It is, in the end, irrelevant.

Finally, your statement that evolution is only a theory shows a true ignorance of evolution (and what the term "theory" means). Evolution is a fact and has been proven. You only need to talk with a biology teacher, or read any book by Richard Dawkins to see the facts of evolution. If you are unwilling to do some simple research before spouting nonsense, I would suggest you not embarass yourself any further by refraining from posting on public forums.

"If you don't know what plato's analogy of the cave is you shouldn't be reading this."

No, that is the philoshophy of theists; remain ignorant at all costs.

"We cannot see air, but we can feel it, this is why we believe it exists. A single sense."

Wrong we can measure its weight, determine its density, composition, and motion, as well as the odors, and checmical effects of the gas.

"But now, if I say I feel the presense of God, then I would be laughed at. Why? Because they cannot sense it."

Exactly, there is no way to measure any aspect of a belief.

"I can feel the presence of Zeus", does that mean Zeus exists?

"Many Atheists act as if Science has all the answers "

Wrong, ALL atheists understand and accept that science DOESN'T have all the answers, but the answers it has are FAR more reliable than the ravings of ignorant goat herders.

"Evolution is still only a theory, and has not been proven."

Sorry but the Ancient Greeks messed up real bad. There are more then 4 elements. Plato's "forms" don't hold under pressure. Perception is based upon the nervous system, true, but we assume to figure out only the answers to this reality. Religion has NO PROOF, while science has much proof. Additionally, If we assume nothing, then you can start with math. Math doesn't lie. Then you can theoretically work your way up into scinece. You will discover some fundamental laws of physics that will validate much of our "perceptions". Based upon this, you can work further to discover where these perceptions originate. That's how we discovered the nervous system lol. Science has evidence, called math. And I'd like to see you proove 2+2=7

You are forgetting one thing about science, it's always evolving and self-correcting. People (like you) want to believe there is a god, even though you can't see it. That is called "faith", believing something exists even though you can't see it. Science isn't about proving what you can't see.

Science is the search for the truth, plain and simple. Religion claims to have the answers even though religion hasn't evolved in 2,000 years. Science uncovers the mysteries of the universe that religion can't even touch. Science raised your self-consciousness to a higher level.

And evolution is not a theory, it's a FACT, It really happened. In fact is happening right now. Humans only live around 80 years and are unable to see the slow change of natural selection take effect. If you go back far enough, all biological life on this planet (including you) are connected to a single instance.

The simple and humbling truth of evolution is something almost spiritual. The fact that all life, not only on this tiny world, but in the entire universe is connected. The stuff of life, the stuff that made us, is everywhere in the cosmos.

The world is only what humanity perceives. Nothing is certain, and an experience of one person cannot be easily believed by those who do not experience the same. Perhaps only the insane people see the world as it really is and we are truly insane, but we believe in the majority.

Simply, the boundaries of our knowledge are our senses.

I believe in evolution because it is very believable. If you take, say, ten mountains and watch them over thousands of years, you will see that eventually one or two are the only ones left. I think that it is natural that evolution occurs.

I still can only choose based on what I perceive and what I can determine from it. That's why I'm Atheist.

Well friend your imaginary stranger didn't harm me. And I don't hate him or have belief in him. First of all I don't believe in myths and imagination. In day to day life we have lot of work to do. I don't want to kill or waste my time with the imaginary stranger. More places like temples, churches, or mosques where people meet for worshipping just spend there valuable time to unnecessary needs. Why can't these people help the needy and the poor? or Do social service to the society they live. Among states in India Kerala is good with literates. In 26 you see 1 good state. Is it good to India. I say No. Rather praying you teach someone or help to guide someone to mere future. Ok Suppose you pray to your imaginary friend to make every state 80% literates. Do you think it is possible. Or will it happen. The Indian Statistics say their are 326 religions in India. If your Imaginary stranger is One why you need so much paths to attain one goal. Well where is your unity. You say India is democratic country. For example X from Religion A marries Y from Religion B. Does Religion A or Religion B accept the marriage full hearted. No, then what is use of religion. Well you say religion is path to your Imaginary stranger. Why didn't that Imaginary stranger solve this problem. If Religion X and Y are good friends why you need a Dark day (December 6th). On the other hand belief is individual rights. I said before I don't believe in myths and imagination. Well friend Can I ask you one thing please pray to your Imaginary stranger and ask when will this 326 religion become 1 or ask him/her when India will become Developed Nation like USA, UK and Japan. ~ Ever ~ True Atheist If Imaginary stranger doesn't like the way I live, Let him/her tell me, not you.

With all due respect, which frankly, your question does not merit, no.

I am going to ignore the arrogance and elitism because I can tell you are clearly young, and feeling your inellectual wheaties for the first time.

Plato's cave analogy CAN be used to work on a variety of levels. It can even be used to work on the one level that you focus on. However, and more importantly, Plato's cave analogy works with reason, intellectual pursuit, and aesthetic value. Plato's cave can be used to rationalize your BELIEF, however it does not invalidate any other belief. Including NO belief.

If you want to make Plato's cave a justification for your belief...fine. It is not the only interpretation.

Ask a Plato question against after you get a B.A.

And please....no Plato questions until you read symposium.

Stop it. Evolution is not a theory. And even if they had a national telecast tomorrow announcing undeniable proof that evolution was real. People like u would still deny it or just change your interpretation of the bible....so it really does not matter what u think as long as YOU believe it what do you care what scientists do? If you can feel God than great!! Were not stopping you....

We know that gods can't exist because of logic.

The idea that an intelligent entity could exist with no origin is an obvious nonsense. Intelligence can only have one of two possible origins: An unthinking, undirected natural process (evolution) or creation by an antecedent intelligence. Since a creator deity would by definition have neither of these origins, such a thing cannot exist.
