It won't force everyone to have a passport, only those who want to travel.

The main pro is additional security for the U.S.

The two main cons:

1. It costs $94 (and anyone who can't afford that over 12 years does not deserve to travel), and ;

2 It might keep out illegal aliens, that would be VERY bad.

Con. Even school children will have to carry passports to school or school trips. Con. It could be argued that the American passport is one step closer to a national ID card. Pro. Everyone will have ID.

You guys are thinking of people being kept out of the country, but what about when your country is just keeping YOU IN!!

ah, just joking mostly but that is a good con.

Also $94 is a lot to some people, and maybe they just want to visit some family oh, I don't know the government shouldn't be charging people and restricting people for something they should be able to do for free.

It is just another way for the government to control us.

I don't really see the cons except that they are expensive, but they are good for like, 10 years or something like that. They cost about $100. It's good to have it if you plan on leaving the US. Other than that, I don't see what the big deal is about, it's just like having any other form of ID.
