Well, the U. S. was angry at Germany for fighting all of the other countries, but the date of the Pearl Habor attack on December 7, 1941 marked the beginning of the US's actual joining in the battle against Germany, Japan, and the rest of the Axis countries. Also, there is no known date when all of the fighting in WWII ended, since many small battles were fought.

The Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, which lead the United States to enter the war.

The Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor because the USA had cut off all shipments of goods to them by 90%. They did this because Japan entered the Axis side of WWII. Japan retaliated by bombing Pearl Harbor.

The bombing of Pearl Harbor caused the War In The Pacific (Also WWII). Japan didn't know bombing Pearl Harbor would eventually bring the downfall of them in WWII.

In WW1 the USA became angered by the German indiscriminate submarine warfare. The attacks upon commerical shipping and the loss of life of innocent travellers including American put the American Public on the Allied side. The final straw was the interception of the German message to the Mexican governement to have the Mexico invade the USA on the side of the German Empire. That was all the Wilson needed to get Congress to declare war. In WW2 it was allot easier, In 1939 Japan, Germany, and Italy formed and alliance, when Japan attacked the USA in 1941, Germany and Italy promptly decalred war on the USA.
