Sinus Pressure In Eyes

2016-10-01 23:57:25 · answer #2 · answered by Erika 4 · 0 0

Check with your doctor to make sure you don't have a sinus infection... also, your dentist might be able to shed some light on the problem as well. I have particularly large sinuses and found that my wisdom teeth were causing severe pain just from the pressure of the roots... when they were removed, the pain disappeared!

To remedy the pain, try a non-drowsy antihistimine... this will help "shrink" the size of your sinuses. Also, a cold washcloth helps as well... heat will cause them to actually expand, making the pressure on the nerves in your face worse.

You might also try a humidifier. If you live in a particularly dry climate, the dryness in the air can wreck havoc on sinuses.

If you want to avoid treating symptoms you don't have, skip the combination drugs (Tylenol Cold, Advil Cold, etc.) and go for pseudoephedrine (Sudafed, behind the pharmacy counter) for the congestion and an antihistamine (Allegra, Claritin, Clarinex, Benadryl, etc) for the allergic response causing the congestion. Talk with a pharmacist to make sure that the Sudafed won't interact with any other drugs you're taking or a condition you have (like high blood pressure).

A few things; get a wash cloth and wet it, put it in the microwave about 30 seconds to 60 seconds. Don't put it directly on your face until it can be handled and place it over the bridge of your nose and over your eyes, lay down and relax. Take a bath with lavender oil in the hot water, relax in that a while. I tried something I found in my health food store, its BHI by Heel for homeopathy the Sinus medication. Stay away from all dairy products (milk, cheese, etc.).

The best thing I have found is a dose of something like Tylenol Sinus (the non-drowsy formula - generic is fine too). Advil's sinus medication works similarly. Alternatively, you can take a dose of Advil or Tylenol with a dose of Sudafed (again, generics are fine); it's EXACTLY the same thing as the combo medications. Heat helps some people, as does caffeine (since it constricts the blood vessels); also, be sure to drink plenty of fluid.

You need to shrink the swelling behing your eyes and nose.

I would try a saline nasal rinse (not a spray.) A full warm water saline rinse goes in one nostril and out the other. It draws out all the gunk and shrinks the tissue (like swimming in the ocean).
The buffered salt doesn't 'sting' as much as plain salt water. You can use a new method like Nasopure, or the vintage, Netipot

You don’t need a prescription for this therapy. If you live in a state like mine, they’ve pretty much “outlawed” sudafed medicine. Drug-free is really the way to go on a frequent-use basis.

Take alergy medicine. You may be suffering from dust or pollen. Maybe even animal dander. This is one simple way to relieve your symptoms. It also helps if you are developing a cold. Either way, you should feel better afterward. Follow the instructions on the box and read which medication is used for daytime and evening use. Some will make you drowsey. Good luck....

This may sound stupid to some but run your fingers along your eyebrows from the inside out. You'll feel an indentation on your brow bone. Push on it as hard as you can stand. The more it hurts the more your sinuses need to drain. Or you could irrigate your sinuses with some warm salt water. Just inhale it through your nose. It sounds gross but it works.

My favorite drugs Claritin D and Advil. Hot compresses and showers and just being upright supposedly help too.
