God's sexist. He created women as "helpers to men."
In the Ten Commandments, you'll find that he refers to your neighbors wife as "belonging to your neighbor", implying that they are objects.
If you look through the bible, you'll find sexism.
Doesn't that seem more like the Israelites, who had a male-dominated society, than some all-knowing perfect being?
Honestly, God is no more credible than Egyptian mythology.
Obviously, the Israelites made this stuff up to have an organized society.
Just like the Hindus tried to make everyone accept their place by saying if you didn't you would have bad karma.
The Israelites must have made all this up to have a docile society.
So my questions are:
1. Do you WANT to be "helpers" to men?
2. Do you WANT to worship this sexist, if existant, God?
3. What makes Israel's folklore more credible than any other ancient civilizations? No one today believes in Greek or Egyptian mythology.

Steven McTowlie: If you have read the Bible, you will see that that is NOT the only sexist thing within there.
hasse_john, Yes, I do. It still implies sexism. That men are stronger and better than women.

"God has never been proven wrong, so His credibility stands, whereas you honestly have no leg to stand on credibility-wise."
It has never been proven that you have not killed someone. Does that mean you did, and people who say there is no proof are the incredible ones?

Remember, even though the Bible was divinely inspired, it was still written at a time where women WERE considered to be almost objects. You have to get the context right. Things are VERY different in today's society. Besides, it is not so much the literal translation of the Bible, but the SPIRIT behind it. What lessons does it teach. The main focus is not on the role of women, but the role of humanity as a whole.
Besides, just look at all of the important Biblical women.

"The Israelites must have made all this up to have a docile society." .... LOL you don't know women very well do ya? Have you really ever met a woman that would become docile without a real good reason to do so? lol that's cute!
To answer your questions, God isn't sexist, He just knows the strengths of each sex.
And yes, I belong to my husband and he belongs to me, why is that an issue?
Again, you call it sexism but fail to see the beauty of the arrangement because it is perfect (and no, not sexist, jeesh).
No, it really was God, not some male-dominated society ... it's the male-dominated society that misinterpreted the Scripture, but the Scripture remains perfect.
If it's just "made up" stuff, then why does it still work so wonderfully?
God has never been proven wrong, so His credibility stands, whereas you honestly have no leg to stand on credibility-wise.
Sorry, don't know about Hindus, can't comment.
Do I want to be a helper to my husband? Oh yeah baby! He's a great man and a good husband and truly loves his family like Christ loves the church.
Do I want to worship God? Yeah, I do want to, and I do worship Him daily.
The Greek and Egyptian mythology didn't work, remember? It was a flawed system, unlike the Bible :)

1. No, I don't.
2. Yes, I want to worship God, but I don't think He's sexist.
It's so hard for me to accept scriptures that tell women to essentially take a backseat to men, because I know I'm just as smart as every other person, men included, who happen to share the same IQ as me. It makes no sense at all to sit and let men make decisions for me. This is so very complicated; I am a Christian woman married to a Christian man, and I try my best to adhere to what the Bible says. I just don't understand why I should (regarding being a "helper"). So I sometimes feel like a mindless follower - but I'm NOT mindless! I just want to honor and glorify God; apparently He has instructed various writers to convey this message about women and their relationship with men. I will never understand God, because His IQ is far greater than a trillion points higher than mine. This is such a struggle... to be independent and headstrong and also expected by God to be pretty much (I hate this word) subservient. But I guarantee that I will ask Him when I have the blessing of meeting Him in heaven.

There are a lot of sexist verses in the Bible, yes. But the overall message to us (which is Paul's message to the Gentiles) is one of love. We're supposed to love one another as Christ loves us. .....Well, I guess the MAIN message in the New Testament is to accept Christ as the son of God who died to pay for our sins, of course. But the NEXT most important message is the love thing. :) I just don't focus on the things which seem not to apply to this age, like the verses in 1 Corinthians that say it is shameful for women to speak in the church.

Hindus don't really believe that, but I think humans in general are pretty chauvinistic so it works its way into religion.
Krishna and Radha are regarded as the perfect example of the devotee-God relationship. Even in the Maha Mantra (Hare Krishna Hare Krishna...), Hare is mentioned frequently, which is another name for Radha. Basically you are calling upon Radha to help you in your finding and understanding Krishna, because really she is the only thing that really matters to Him, and you have to go through her to get to Him.
That is putting the feminine over the masculine.

You can ask questions and state opinions from now on and you will still have the desire to cause division among people. You aren't sincere about anything. A wise man holds his tongue. By the way, God doesn't need defending.

Do not covet thy neighbour's wife would be the equivalent for a woman to do not covet thy neighbours husband. If you took the PC out of your ears and eyes for a sec, you would see this.

You are seriously in need of an attitude adjustment. Scriptures say that man should be head of the woman like Messiah YAHOSHUA was head of the church, and lay down His life for her. Do you have a problem with that scripture also?
