Hi, I live in Italy. Well, first of all Italian cuisine is rich in desserts. Every region and city has it's own desserts. The Italian desserts known in all of Italy are tiramisu, gelato (Italian ice-cream), creme caramel (flan), zuppa inglese, cannoli, fruit pies, cakes, etc.

Italian-American's we have our own way of doing things, Canoli's, Tiramisu, Zeppoles, Biscotti di Pinoli, Ricotta Cheesecake, Torta Caprese, Baba au Rhum, Mille Foglie, Tortoni, Cassata, Sfogliatelle....Yeah you notice Italian-Americans are big on the pastries,

Most Italian restaurants always have profiterols or tiramisu in the dessert trolley. But torta della nonna(Grandmother's cake) is also very popular as is gelato(icecream.)

italian cassata - its a three layers ice cream cake. The bottom layer is chocolate icecream with glazed fruit such as cherries, then two more layers vanilla and strawberries. My mum used to change the recipe and put chopped cherry ripes. Grated chocolate goes over the top.

The sehara I should think?? but they are very good at making ice cream. we have some excelent italian cafes in most of the welch towns, Antoniazis in newtown powys make fantastic cakes and bread, something I miss very much scince moving to Egypt, Iolo Williams's favourite cafe.i think Iolo goes there becase it is still known as Evans's cafe,
