You can always cheat every once in awhile especially if its prior to a workout when you will burn it off anyway. its bad to cheat at night because then it will be stored by your body as fat. Also there are a ton of foods out there that taste as great as cheating but are actually really good for you. propel or any of those no calorie waters are good, tuna, cottage cheese, egg whites, chicken breast... so forth. power bars are a candy you could eat to give you extra energy and you could get chicken sandwiches or salads instead of a burger. Just remember, everything extra you eat, should be worked off to make up for it

The current issue of Men's Health actually had a good article about this. If you slip, then force yourself to eat "right" for 5 straight meals. That way you are eating right at least 80% of the time.
In reality, fast food is not totally bad for you as long as it's not the major contributor to your diet. I like Taco Bell and one day I was looking at the nutritional content and found that what I like to eat was only 400-600 calories. Out of a 2000 calorie diet that means I'm getting about 1/5 to 1/3 of my calories from a single meal. That doesn't sound unhealthy to me. If you are going to eat fast food, just opt for the healthier choices on the menu - grilled steak or grilled chicken - instead of the fried stuff or the mystery meat. And don't gorge yourself. I usually eat two steak soft tacos or one grilled stuffed chicken burrito. I know I would be better off having something prepared at home but I don't think I'm killing myself by eating something like that a couple times a week.

"How often can I cheat or slip away and treat myself to junk food?"
Sorry, but there's absolutely no way to healthfully eat junk food, despite what a couple people may say. It's very unhealthy, cancer causing, disease promoting, and very very bad for your overall health. Candy and soda and many other things are just completely useless to put into your body. Not only does it give you absolutely no nutrients for you body to use but it gives you a large dose of toxins.
Whole natural fresh foods are healthy. Mostly anything that needs a list of ingredients is unhealthy. Especially fast food which is amongst the most cancer causing, health decreasing foods commonly consumed.

You can actually shop for some "junk" food like sweets/chocolates that don't have as much sugar or carbs...if you search. You can try some Atkins candybars. I'd say try your best to stay away from fried foods but if you completely deny yourself things you're craving you might have a break down so at least treat yourself once every two weeks...i think. And try not to think about it all the time or it will drive you nuts.

It's hard to answer your question, or give a fair opinion. Besides all people having different lifestyles, weight fluctuations and chemical balance, we all have different urges and levels of discipline. I also think that eating junk food is like taking a loan, it's easy to do, but payback is harder because of interest. Maybe try a ratio, eat 5 times as much GOOD food as bad?

Try eating fruit 2-3 times a day---on a daily basis. Also make sure you are gettin plenty of fiber & whole grains. Remember it takes your body about 3 times longer to digest meat than other foods. If you want the protien---eat beans at least 4 times a week. They are high in fiber and protien---also no fat. Dont forget to drink your milk or have a good cereal daily too. Good luck---and take a good multivitamin daily.

I'd say that if you can 'limit' your junk food 'binges' to one meal a week that you're doing an 'excellent job' of eating healthier. Just make sure that when you do 'junk out' you make a 'celebration' out of it ... a 'celebration of being good' at eating healthier ... and you find out that over time, you need fewer and farther apart 'celebrations' because you are getting healthier. DO NOT 'slip away' though ... that is 'defeating' yourself, because you'll be 'hiding something bad' instead of 'celebrating being good.'

no junk food! sorry if i sound tough. if yoiu want to eat helthier there are easier ways to tresat yourself then eating junk food... chocolate is okay but just a little to much can get bad and make you depressed. smoothies and shakes, certain types of yogart are yummy and good for you. very vanilla silk milk and cinimon raisan bread/toast put some organic peanut butter or almond butter or some thing like that. bananas and almonds they say are the best snack before working out, because of all the potassium, and healthy type of sugar, and ect. and it is good for you!!!!! GOOD LUCK!!!! and to stop the adicction watch the documentary "Super Size Me"...
