I am against pople joining the military for the wrong reasons. In the last 4 years of my military career, I have met too many people who have complained about the job,the uniform, deployments and the rules you have to follow. It drives me nuts when people with an unrealistic idea of the military join. As long as you fully understand what you are gettingyourself into, then I think the military isn't a bad way to start your career.Whether you choose to continue for 20 years or only go for 4 is up to that person.

Oh and by the way I am not a butch

I'm definitely not AGAINST people joining the military. My husband was in the military and it was one of the best experiences of his life.

I think it is important and also a very valuable experience to serve ones country, which I have done myself through another type of government program.

However I am going to go with a different answer and say that thought I'm not against anyone joining the military, at this time I would not encourage my sons to join and to find an alternative way to serve their country. The ads on television bother me by fantasizing what it will mean to go into the Army, the educational opportunities, etc. when in this point in time and with this war, many people who join aren't able to return to the US to take advantage of the promised benefits and opportunities.

It's a volunteer military..That means there doing something they want...right?Why would I be against people doing something they want....that's the whole reason there's a military in the first place.

Nope. I may not understand exactly what posses a person to join, maybe cause I'm a chicken sh!t, maybe cause I can't be bossed around outside the bedroom, maybe cause I'm a woman...not really sure. BUT God bless them sexy @$$ men in uniform.

I am not against it. The military is all voluntary so why would I be against it?

No, absolutely not. However, I would advise them NOT to join as long as Bush is in charge as he has proven to be either completely incompetent or a Satanist. It's hard to tell. All that can really be known for certain is that whatever he touches turns to $hit.
