You should ease your kitten into the adult food. Just mix a bit of adult food in with the kitten food. Each time, give him/her a bit more adult food than kitten food. If you don't taper off, your kitten will most likely get an upset tummy.

In a simple answer, it's not a pleasant experience for them. Cats' stomachs are really sensitive to food changes. Even if it's the same brand you need to taper it down. There is a good likely hood of their stomachs getting upset and of diarrhea otherwise. It should even say on the bag of kitten food that when you change to adult food you need to gradually taper. This is also what my veterinarian suggested to us when ours were kittens.

slowly mix in they new with the old cat food. it should have directions for it on the bag with some brands. Switching fast like taking off one and starting on the other with out mixing can cause some digestion problems. They would get an upset tummy or just act off. Had a cat who couldn't tolerate a fast change over, always got diarrhea and strained alot while going potty.

i use to switch alot on my kitties but now he gets the same thing...u can slowly do it but honestly i mostly just give a bit of each on the first feeding of the new brand.... but it really depends on how much i have left of the old stuff if none then they get all new.... so even though most vets are going to tell u to slowly add new stuff in...ya really don't have to....beside when i worked at the shelter we got damaged bags of all kinds of food and those cats got a big mix of every thing..except the few who got sick in the red dye in some cat food..they got artificial free stuff.

The field would desire to assert whilst to regulate. i think of the only 365 days mark is approximately suitable. yet - the programs consistently inform you a bigger quantity of food than the cat desires. we've by no skill fed our cats what the programs propose. additionally, do no longer enable your kitten to be waiting to graze all day. positioned out a small quantity of food interior the morning and then, returned, some at nighttime. i do no longer bear in recommendations what the programs state, yet i think of we supply a pair of million/4 cup, a pair instances in step with day. Watch the kitty's weight. If she is basically too great, decrease it down - getting slightly lean, supply her greater. everybody is diverse, yet fat kitties would be project to well-being problems, so use your instincts. it is O.ok. to feed little scraps of meats out of your meal, too, by using fact it is especially protein. A relative used to even cook dinner up giblets (interior the meats section) for the cats. they prefer all little manage you supply them, as long because it is healthy and you're no longer overfeeding. additionally grant kitty grass, which you would be able to get at some grocery shops, besides as puppy shops. there's a reason they desire to munch on grass and on your houseplants.

I got your question like, mixing the food together and then gradually making the amount of the new cat food bigger until it's all the new food, so I'll answer that question. Of course you can.
I've done it with my cat, several times, (I tend to switch cat food often, so my cat doesn't get tired of his food) and I also do this with my dog, they're both perfectly healthy. So I don't see why not.

what we did with our kittnes is to slowly start giving them regular food. like for example, half of the bowl would be adult food that we dampened with water, and half would be noemal dry adult food, then we would slowly descrease the amount of dampened food, the kitten got used to it quickly and didnt notice/mind :]
