5 years isn't a huge difference between two people, however the ages of the two of you comes in a time when lives change almost daily.
When I was 23, I changed SO MUCH from when I was 18. I felt a lot different, had experienced a lot more, been through college, moved out, etc. There were a lot of things during those years that helped me grow.
Therefore, even though you may only be 5 years apart...during the latest teens and earliest twenties, the gap can seem much larger.
As you get older age differences is less and less of a problem.
Whatever you do, follow your heart, but keep in mind that you and your significant other may go through some changes at different times.

If it feels right then go for it. You may have a little adjustment sociallizing with each others friends but it may be well worth it if you have good chemistry. I personnally had an even larger gap in age (7 1/2 years) and it was just fine except that I was long out of the bar scene as she was just getting into it. This eventually made for alot of her going out without me and she felt guilty about it even though I was quite happy with it. Sometimes I even liked it alot that she was coming home all liquored up and cheerful after cuttin a rug at the dance club.

You should be fine for now. As long as you are happy with him then keep at it. But one thing to consider is that you two are at different points in your life. You are probably just finishing high school, and he is probably just out of college. You are still at the age of growing, and he is at the age of coming into the world as an adult. Like I said before, if you are happy then that is great! But if you two start to get serious, you should talk about the kinds of things you want long term.

Age is not a difference if you really like each other and get along! Try it and see if it feels right.

Well, you're both legal, so I don't see anything wrong with it. Just trust your judgement.
