If any of the cats have fleas there is always a possibility they may have a tape worm. Usually you will see the segments of the tapeworm in the cats' bedding so keep an eye out for that.
And be sure to treat all of them for fleas as they can always be reinfected if there are fleas around.

No, the other cats won't have tape worms as well. I have one cat that gets tape worms @ every 3 months. And my other cat has never had them. I am also very surprised that your cat has to have a shot. I always just get a little white $6 dollar pill from the vet and give it to her. And the worms are always gone within 24 hours.

Possible. If you have not seen worm segments in their waste, you are likely okay. Tapeworms arise when a cat eats an infested flea, so if your house is free of fleas the odds are that your cats are clean. Investigate whether the kitten could have come from a place where fleas were present.

Yes more than likely.
Tapeworm is passed by fleas, and as you know fleas aren't picky about what animal they bite....
The cycle goes like this....
1. The cycle starts with a mature tapeworm already in your cat/dog in which the tapeworm releases one of his/her last segment (proglodids) into your pets lower intestional tract, to exit out the rectum and anus. The proglodids have a ton of little tapeworm eggs in it. The proglids kinda look like off white to yellowish rice grains, sometimes they are like a tan color. They are usually very sticky and dry. You rarley find these proglodids in your pets poo, unless they shed off because the majority of the time they stick to your pets anal area or shed through out the day (you might find them in your pets bet or a spot where your pet has recently laid down).
2. Once the proglodids are out in the open, a flea must ingest the eggs, in this phase, the eggs that were ingested by the flea hatch and turn into larvee.
3. The flea hops on you cat or dog and with the bite, injects the larvee into your pet. The larve migrate to the Gastro Intestional Track of your pet, where they grow into a mature tapeworm, where in time, they will release their proglodids and continue the cycle.
Now if you eliminate the adult tapeworm in your pet and eliminate the fleas, you will not have a problem with tapeworm infestation.
Usually vets prescribe a tapeworm dewormer, Drocit or Drontal, and a good flea control is Frontline Plus or Advantix.

take stool samples to the vet from each cat to be tested, call them and they should supply you with tubes for it. Get some flea control since thats how they mainly get worms, if they are out door indoor cats then order some from your vet. the stuff at the stores dont do a very good job on flea control. I know that after having 9 cats and regular flea shampoo and collars or anything at the srore only worked for a week.. ry for frontline or one of those brands from your vet.

First, fleas could be delivered in on your shoes or maybe from a customer. 2d - on no account ever use any OTC flea drugs - they do exactly no longer artwork! third - a real looking flea option? i might basically use some thing relied on that the vet sells: Frontline Plus, benefit, Revolution or software. Frontline, benefit and software are available with out prescription. As an incentive, even nonetheless Frontline says reapply each 4 weeks, you should use after 5 weeks, on a similar time as much as six, in case you prefer to be a splash risque (via fact that they are indoor cats). final - Drontal and Droncit the two are prescriptions available basically with the aid of he vet for tapeworms (Drontal additionally treats Hooks and rounds). the two those drugs lively element is praziquantel, or maybe nonetheless you're able to discover it OTC - study the training carefully and understand the load of your pets earlier administering. it rather is probable superb to handle all pets, you do no longer prefer to omit any only in case. even nonetheless it rather is a splash expensive, that is well worth it interior the long-term. additionally, be advantageous the home is flea unfastened, with the intention to no longer reinfect the pets with fleas or tapes. solid luck.

just because one has them does not mean they all do. if you dont see any with the others dont worry. the only way to get tapworms is by them eating fleas or dead animals,or by eating a tape worm egg.(like if they shead an egg in the litter box and the other cat steps on it and then licks it off and eats it) watch them if you dont see any and no one is loosing wt. then it should be ok. if they do just deworm them for it.

I bet so. It's related to fleas, so I'd make sure all your cats are treated for fleas, the house, their bedding, etc. Then I'd worm them all at the same time to.
