Anyone who answers "Yes" to this question should be hunted down and executed!
And if any of them actually DO have children they should turn around and tell their children that if god told them to, they would kill them! Let's see if innocence will reveal the truth to these sick psychopaths!

Since Bible believing Christians all know the story of Abraham, I think that God would never use that same question with us.
But He often uses the same line of questioning, and some of us pass and some fail.
God had promised an old man (Abraham) a son. It was a seemingly impossible task, as Abraham was old, and his wife barren. Finally, God gave them their son. The son of promise. The thing of greatest value to Abraham - then, God asked for him back. As the story turns out, He wasn't really trying to get Abraham to kill his son - He wanted to know if Abraham trusted Him enough to believe that God would raise him up again. Abraham trusted - and God stopped him from the killing.
God asks us to give Him our first fruits - for us in today's society, that could be interpreted as tithing before paying any other bills. That tests our faith. For someone who's had trouble paying their bills on 100% of their take home pay, it takes faith to believe that with God's help, I can pay my bills with 90%. Mathematically, it does not make sense. Yet God pulls it off every week for families that tithe.
And those that don't tithe would not kill their son if God asked.

God would never ask us to kill our own child.
Jesus has done it all on the Cross. No other sacrifice is required other than to believe this.
The only time there was any mention of child sacrifice was in the time of Abraham, when Abraham was tested to see if he would. God supplied a goat as a substitute before Abraham could carry it out. This was a symbolic fore-shadowing of Christ's sacrifice.

I don't have kids, but I'm not sure. If God told me and I knew I had to I would serioulsy consider it, because its what God wants and that is all ways the best way to go. There was a man once who tried to run from God and not follow his plan. While trying to escape he was swallowed by a whale and lived in his stomach. In the end he listened to God and followed his plan. There was also a man who God told to kill his only son. He decided to listen and in the end God decided not to have him kill his son, but gave him a ram to sacrifice instead for listening. So you see God will work it out in the end, so you should listen. Remember obedience is better than sacrife.

I can tell you, as one of TheTrue Christian Faith, that it is unlikly that would ever happen again. But, as I, and every one of The True Faith, know God personaly, if he said to do it then it would be done............ Faith not based on fact is fantacy... The Faith of those of The Faith is based on the absolute fact of God's existance. Because we know God and know to trust Him we know that everything in His instruction has a purpose in His Word and will for mankind. The example of the testing of Abraham is a true story passed to us as an example of how we are to respond to God's instruction... Abraham knew God and Trusted Him... So do we of The Faith... No one of The Faith would take such an actiopn on the word of any mortal man... there are to be no Wako's or Jonestowns involving the True Christian Faith... only God directly , Personaly, and one-on-one could make such a request and have it carried out... because every one of The Faith Knows God and would know that the instruction was from Him.... He would never use an itermedeary for such an instruction.

I don't have kids, but yes.
Think about this before you freak out....
Say your kid is burning in a fire, being raped by a freak, being tortured with serious pain. Would you not take that child's life by your own hands to shorten the pain and suffering? Is this not what we do to the very animals we love when we put them down? Is this not we do to the sick when we pull the plug?
YAHWEH (GOD) knows more and sees more than we can, so the death must be for the greater good. Maybe the first born is suppose to die to be allowed to be the guardian of the house that the LORD has built for you in Heaven.

i hate to sound like a religious nut *hm I wonder what kind of nut that is..and if they get toasted haha* but Abraham was told to kill his son, and he was going to. When God saw his faith, that he would do what he was asked by the Lord, he provided a Lamb instead to sacrifice. BUT There was the wariior who promised the Lord that if the Lord would help him win the battle, he would sacrifice the first thing that came out of his door when he arrived home the victor. Well, his daughter ran out of the door, and he had to sacrifice her, and God proved a difficult and fairly cruel lesson-that you should think of what you promise the lord. *I wouldn't have sacrificed MY kid-even though I'd give her a good whack once in awhile*

If you were a Christian, God would not ask you, and you would certainly not even contemplate. Christianity, by definition, is non violent.
Now if you were one of those Born Again Corporate Capitalists, then your child, as many people's children in Iraq, your's and their's, would be in serious danger.

I am a Christian, and I don't think God will contadict Himself. God gave us one of His commandment;... that thou shall not kill. Jesus loves children,.. He said one time to his disciple; do not hinder the children to come to me. Never again will God test anyone to kill a child for him ( Read Abraham's case), just to test our obedience.
