One of my kittens is only 10 months old but she's pregnant. Is it dangerous for such young cats to be pregnant? Can it affect the health of the cat or its babies? How? Please, I really need to know. My vet told me she is too young for pregnancy.

Listen to your vet's advice, and please, after you do what the vet tells you, spay your cat. Be responsible.

Why did the vet not offer any solution for the pregnant 10 month old cat? He is right, it is not healthy for a cat that young to have kittens. She isn't full grown yet, but then neither are teenagers when they have a baby. She will probably be fine. Just take care of her and feed her a good diet so her babies will be healthy when they are born. You may have to help her with them if she doesn't have enough milk, as this sometimes happens when a cat is young. You would need to help by feeding the kittens formula that you find at Pets Mart or grocery store. Make sure the mama cat gets a good diet after the kittens are born too. It is important for her so she can recover from giving birth.

Well, she's not the first cat to ever get pregnant that young. It's best on the cat if she doesn't get pregnant until she's 18 months old, but even better if you get her spayed. Still, I don't think you have to worry about this harming her physically. She's ALMOST a year old. Not ideal...but it would be MUCH worse at 6 months. I'd keep a good eye on her though, because sometimes first time mother cats need help delivering.

If she's not a purebred and you don't intend to purposely breed her, make an appointment for 6 weeks from the day she gives birth, don't let her go outside after she gives birth, and take her to get her spayed.

If the vet told you she is too young, why would you ask a bunch of strangers?

And why, since you already know the dangers of leaving a cat unaltered by irresponsibly already allowing ONE litter, would you have been so cruel as to leave the other cats unaltered?

Have the vet do a spay NOW. This will end the pregnancy and prevent future pregnancies. Have ALL your cats fixed ASAP and for pete's sake, bring them all inside until you do (and preferably permanently)!!!!!!!

She's too young because her body's not fully developed yet - it's like a 12 year old girl getting pregnant. Also, at her age, most cats are very poor mothers - they don't want to or know how to look after their litter. If she's having a large litter, it could also cause permanent skeletal damage to her as well.

Of course shes too young, she is still growing herself, being pregnant and then lactating the kittens would be a massive strain on her immune system and her bones in developing properly.

that's like a teen pregnancy considering cats live about 13 to 15 years!

Why would you let your cat walk around and get knocked up by some other feline. That is really irresponsible and you should bring it to the vet asap. God knows, it could have been a stray.

yes it is a little young, but it shouldn't hurt her or her kittens. it would be best if you don't want any more to have her spayed. just watch her and make sure she takes care of her kittens. good luck
