I'm not familiar with UK law. In the US, the statute of limitations only prevents them from filing a lawsuit against you. They can still try to convince you to pay as long as they want.

What you're thinking of is that some thing can stay on your credit document for 7 years earlier it falls off. subject is that in case you dont pay it, they have the excellent suited to proceed to assemble and to maintain reporting it on your credit. in case you have been to pay it then it would fall off afte 7 years. This debt will continually rear that is ughly head. have faith me, i artwork in banking. You wont have the means to purchase a house with out paying the debt off first, in case you're able to additionally get a loan, which would be no longer likely via fact the sequence will deliver your score down. you will even have hardship getting a vehicle financed and credit enjoying cards interior the destiny. superb just to aim and make some preparations with them. they're going to many times artwork with you to take although you could discover the money for month-to-month. there is not any statue of limitations on debt.

What creditors do to mess with your credit history is pay lets say a $100.00 dollar debt (USA) is sent to credit bureau collections they tack on fee $30.00 so now it shows as $130.00, sold to the next agency who tacks on $40 shows as $170.00 meanwhile all those amounts are showing as past due... and it grows year after year. When really it's the single $100.00 vs. $100,$130,$170 etc... it has no end. Someone is bent on bugging you to clear up old debt...

Statute or no, they will continue to try and get their money, even as long as 20 years later. DO NOT SEND ANY MONEY TO THEM, as this contstitutes acknowlegment of the debt and nullifies the statute. Believe me, I know.
