i am friends but like her alot my friend asked her if she likes me and she said no she is shy so how do i know for sure

Ask her yourself how she feels. Dont rely on second hand info from a friend, its not always right. Just tell her how you feel and ask her out or something. If she's shy, it might take a while for her to agree to going out, but look for the body language that tells you that she seriously doesnt want to go out with you. Dont press her too much about it. Be casual and ready to accept her answer, whatever it might be.
