Wicca is a religion that has historically (in the 50s and 60s) used the word Witchcraft exclusively, but the word witchcraft itself means a huge number of things and many different groups that aren't Wiccan.

I make that distinction because Wicca is a non-abrahamic religion, it has nothing to do with the Abrahamic god or his devil.

Witchcraft(when not meaning the Wiccans), psychics and astrology are all inherantly neutral. Good people and bad people do them with impunity.

Well, ok, first you need to determine which you want to be...a Witch or Wiccan. The two are separate practices. Witchcraft is a craft, a practice, Wicca is a religion. Second you need to ask yourself: Why? Why do you want to be a Witch/Wiccan? What do you hope to accomplish? What do you hope to gain? Do you still carry preconceived notions about what Wicca/Witchcraft is and isn't? These to things must be done before you do anything else. Divinitory arts has little to do with actual Witchcraft. They may be incorporated into the practices, yes, but are not a necessity to be a Witch. Not all Witches use tarot cards or consult astrology...and very few (if any) use a Ouja board. Witchcraft is NOT supernatural or paranormal. It is in itself a form of science. Working with herbs, and energies to create changes. Changes will not come instantaneously, like shown in movies or on tv, nor do they appear in a puff of smoke or flashy, sparkly lights. It can take anywhere from a few hours to a few years for the change to occur. However, if you are TRULY interested, you'll take the time to patiently learn. I learned all I know on my own, from many books, internet websites, online schools as well as online forums...learning from those with experience and asking questions. Now with all the sources I mentioned, you must take them with a grain of salt, as not everything is sound in its advice. You must trust yourself to determine what makes sense to you and what doesn't. Don't take every book, website or school at its word, and think that everything MUST be done in a certain way...if it doesn't make sense to you, it won't work. I would recommend for anyone (novice to advanced) "Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner" by Scott Cunningham. A very good, plain-english book. You can learn a lot from this book. I won't recommend any books to stay away from, as I believe all books carry *some* useful information. I hope I have been of *some* help. EDIT: Stephen - No one is born a Wiccan, just like no one is born a Witch. You cannot be born with all the knowledge and skills already learned straight from birth. Even if you were born into a Wiccan family doesn't mean you were born a Wiccan, you just decided to follow the family tradition.

Witchcraft is a technique, like prayer, that is practiced in many different religious contexts. Wicca is one of the religions where witchcraft is often (but not always) practiced. So, most Wiccans are witches, but not all witches are Wiccans.

I can only speak as a Wiccan, but we are not Christians and we do not have your God/Satan system (which Christianity stole from the Zoroastrians anyway). We have no equivalant figure to Satan in our theology. As far as we're concerned, the powers that we work with are Divine powers, aspects of the Goddess and the God which are beneficial, balanced, and rightly a part of the universe. We accept that both light and darkness, life and death, are part of existence, but we don't compartmentalize them into "good" and "evil" the way Christians do. But to put it in Christian terms, we believe that all things come from God.

The "thou shalt not suffer a witch to live" line has caused more headaches for Wiccans than just about anything in Christian canon. Never mind that it's a mistranslation in the first place; Christians hear the word "Wicca", associate it with witchcraft (which again not all Wiccans practice), and proceed to get Bronze Age on our behinds. When they do this, I try to politely point out (again) that we do not worship any being like Satan, that as far as we're concerned all power flows from the Goddess/God, and that while witchcraft has no "good" or "bad" orientation (like prayer, it can be used to bring about all sorts of things depending on the person using it), as Wiccans we are bound by the Wiccan Rede: "If it harm none, do what you will".

Ah, four separate things that are somehow all linked to evil in some people's minds. I never understood that Christians have anything against psychics and astrology, because how else do you explain all the prophecy mentioned in the bible, or the wise guys coming to see baby Jesus because of a star in the sky? None of these things are inherently evil, just like guns by nature aren't evil, or airplanes. Most people use these things responsibly and how they are meant to be used for the reason they are meant to be used. Others, however.........

Hopefully you read this.

It is NOT evil. Most of it is not worshiping an evil diety, Those that do, i would recommend avoiding.

Most of it is for protection and Personal Spiritual growth and harmony with nature. This scares religeons who try to control your spirituality. Freedom scares people these days. And pages ( wicca and the other "arts") are very freeing.

We dont worship the devil. These ppl r just ignorant a**holes who reject ppl just because they're different. Actually Christianity is just an asinine religion. A long time ago Christians killed alot of ppl and stuck brutal needles into their arms just to convert them. But some went into hiding and thats why were still here. NAA NAA NA NA NA!
YOU CANT GET US CUZ WERE THE GINGERBREAD RELIGIONS! But yeah. All this crap is just to get us to convert. Christmas was actually in the spring or summer before it got changed to resemble Yule. Same with Easter and Halloween.

For those who are ready, no explanation is necessary and for those who are not, no explanation is possible! http://www.psychic-junkie.com

Spirituality is born from a personal occurrence with a divine, psychic or mystical experience of one form or another which inevitably connects a person to All that Is/God/Goddess/Allah/Great Spirit /whatever you want to call it.

Religion is second hand opinion of someone else’s divine experience. I think you will find that religions, and especially fanatical religions, tend to separate and divide people, while spirituality brings people together.

Thank God that Spirituality is on the increase!

No it's not Evil. Individual people might be "evil" but these things are tools. I don't believe in the devil, therefore am incapable of "worshipping" it. I personally use my gifts to help people. (including protection spells.)

First of all a devil figure has NOTHING to do with any of what you mentioned!

You need to keep in mind who is saying these things are of the devil. It is Christians!

Why do they say that?
They have an obsession with the devil.
It is because if you take the devil out of their religion then their religion dies!

Also to Christians any belief other then theirs is of the devil!
