It really depends on a lot of things boney areas tend to hurt a little more than fatty or fleshy areas. I have also learned that it makes a difference depending on your artist heavey handed onse cause it to be more painful and it depends on your pain tollerance.
I have a lion on my right sholder and it didn't hurt that bad at all. In fact the on on my ankle is about the only one that really hurt.

To tell you the truth I am petrified of needles but I really wanted a tattoo, so I got one done.
It only hurt while the outline was getting done, but by the time they started filling in the tattoo with colour, the area had already gone numb.
The only way to describe it was a tickling sensation, kind of like someone pressing a vibrator against my skin.
Because the needles are moving that fast while you're getting your tattoo done, you don't realise that there are needles on the tattoo gun! Its not as bad as everyone thinks.
Just make sure your happy with the design of the tattoo and where it is going to be placed as your the one that has to wear it for the rest of your life.
Also ask around for good tattoo parlours that have a good reputation, makes sure they sterilise their utensils as you don't want to catch Hep C or anything else.

everybody is going to tell you something different. in my experience every tattoo i have gotten has hurt atleast a little bit but often a lot. some places hurt more than others. the pain also depends on how well you tolerate pain. obviously the pain is not so great that it is unbearable because tons of people have tattoos. and many have multiple tattoos. as for the geico gecko... good luck with that.

It depends on where you get it. On the bone hurts a lot more than where there is more fat or flesh. My friend got his on his spine and that sh** hurt! On the foot hurts a lot too. It depends on your pain threshold. Some people can take more pain than others. I'm a wimp..so I got mine to the right of my back. It also depends on how big the tattoo is. The bigger it is the more pain you have to endure. However, after awhile the whole area becomes numb!

My favorite answer to this question:
"Bzzzzzttttt....The artist starts up the machine, dips the needle into
the ink and starts to work toward your skin! Aaaaaahhhhh!!! Will it
hurt? Will it hurt? Grit your teeth! Hang tight!...
Ooohhhhhhh! It *does* hurt! Ow! Ow! Ow! I'm okay, I'm okay, this is
fine, it's not that bad. I can grit my teeth. Grit, grit, grit. Try to
smile a bit. My teeth are gritting, anyway. Oh, I hope this pain doesn't
stay like this!! Breathe. Don't forget to breathe. Relax. Relax. Relax.
Okay there, that's better. Not so painful. I can handle it. Yeah--look
at all the tattoos HE's got on his arms. I can handle it, too. Yeah...."
At which point the endorphins kick in, and I sometimes spontaneously giggle...

It doesn't hurt anymore than getting a shot over and over. It can depend on where you get it as to how bad it hurts. I have 5 tattoos and the one that hurt the worst is my lower back piece but I feel it was worth it.

yes it does hurt
basically a tattoo breaks the skin barrier which Is why it bleeds afterwards
its obviously gonna hurt somewhat
it depends where you get it
I started on my leg and am going for back next
if you want it enough you will stick through it

Yes it will... and it all depends on how tolerant you are with pain. If you are like me (medium tolerant) you'll survive! It will be over in some minutes...
One of my friends got a butterfly in her shoulder and she said that it did hurt but not too bad...

yes they hurt, your getting stuck with a needle over and over and over, but its not the worst pain in the world and its worth it when its over. the pain only lasts while your getting the tattoo, after its done it feels kinda like a bad sunburn
