Okay, from how I see it: If you want to help your career or get into politics, the air force would be best. If you want to make the military your career, then marines are best. If you are adventurous, navy would be best. If you want good pay and a college education, you could join army. Which should I pick? I don't want to make the military my carrer, so probably not marines. I might enjoy traveling, so navy would be ok for awhile, but then i would get homesick...army and airforce are good too. Explain all the pros and cons, and list the benefits with your answer please!

The fact thet your even questioning it means thet the Airforce is probably your best bet......Please don't join the Marines unless your willing to Die for the Marine next to you.....Air force has a lot of good (well paying) technical jobs that translate to civilian life.

Well you will have to decide the pros and cons based on whats more important to you.... the army offers the most bonuses and college money, but will you be home from Iraq long enough to use it? The Air Force is said to be most like civilian life.... do you want that or do you want an experience completely different... Navy say you get to the see the world... but how long do you really think you want to be on a ship. The Marines say ooorah and semper fi... but are you that gung ho? what's important to you. the NAvy and the Army let you choose your job before entering a contract... The Air Force and Marines may only let you choose the area you want to work in! The Air Force has the most people who get degrees while enlisted... its all depends on your goals for your time in and for your future, don't let anyone decide for you!

I spent over 3 years in the Air Force and just under 2 years in the Air National Guard - so did my husband. What you should honestly do is visit a recruiter from each branch and see how you feel after that. Do your research. Everyone is different. I honestly loved the Air Force and miss it still. I should have stayed in. The Air National Guard was horrible - nothing at all like the active duty Air Force. You should also figure out what type of career you want when you get out. Plan for your future.

I'm a Navy brat and as a member in a LARGE family and having kids in military (Navy, Army,Air Force and National Guard) I would have to say that Air Force is THE best service to join ( I have to agree with all those people who said Air Force). Air Force is the Cadillac of military services. I base this (also) on my former students who have joined the military, over the last 15 years, who have come back to visit me and tell me what they've been doing in their life. I tried to talk my daughter into Air Force but she went National Guard and went to Iraq 2004-2005. Those that were in Air Force got posh jobs outside of Iraq. Good Luck with your decision.

each of the branches have a similar pay and similar reward. Deployments very last six months or extra in each branch except for the military which has 12 month deployments. The army has the most deployments. each sailor on sea responsibility receives deployed to sea for a minimum of six months or extra. it would not remember which branch you connect there is continually the prospect you'd be stationed overseas places. if you're stationed in Korea you would possibly want to be there for years and the military might want to no longer pay on your relations to come back. in the experience that your relations is so significant you would possibly want to no longer undergo to be with out them fore more desirable than 2 months do no longer connect the military. that is not the existence for you. ETA: someone reported the Coast guard above. The Coast guard cutters bypass to sea for 4 or extra months at a time. yet even Coast Guardsmen are at present be stated as as a lot because the army to serve in Iraq. army deployments are six months or extra.

You are going to get homesick whatever branch you join but that is not a bad thing you need to grow up eventually and see the world. I would suggest not joining any branch now with our current situation in Iraq. I am in the navy and only joined this branch so I would not have to go to Iraq. Guess where I am....Iraq. On the positive side, you can get money for college and you will get to travel and get some leadership skills. Another thing is that people tend to hire people out of the military due to their level of teamwork, ect... I still would not suggest joining now and just taking out some student loans and go to college, but the choice is yours. Good luck with your future.

well, whatever job you pick, a wise old man once said: "If you ain't airborne, you aint shhit."

With that being said, if you aren't going to stay military, do something where you'll have fun and get some adventure in your life. Then you can use the Montgomery GI Bill and whatever service's college fund to go to college and get an education in whatever you want and return to being a civilian dealing with the daily grind. I prefer staying in the Army and having Peter Pan Syndrome.

I have a deep respect for all branches, they are all fine choices. As I am Air Force, I would say it's a good way to go and would definitely recommend it. But it ultimately comes down to which one suits you best personally.

I'll tell you the same thing I told all my brothers - find the service that will train you in a job that interests you - and that you can "sell" on the outside. You won't find much use for training in being a Paratrooper in the civilian world - but if you are interested in a technical skill, the training you receive would be invaluable in finding a good job once you are back in civilian clothes.
