im going to Thailand in october, staying a week in bangkok and a week in phuket, against my better judgement,Its 130 in the shade, but me thinks you are not talking about this kind of hot,if you are looking for that kind of hot, check out patong, and yes you will need protection,in more ways than one,lol
Things to do if you have the guts, visit the tiger temple in kanchanaburi, located near the bridge over the river kwai, free roaming tigers, excellent experience.

Yes, Thailand is in the tropics and therefore the suns rays are very direct. Sunscreen will be necessary, especially at the beaches. Definitely bring sunscreen from the US (If that's where you are), because the quality of the sunscreen bought in Thailand may be a problem. If you are fair skinned, I would start out with something in the range of 45 to 60 until your skin acclimates and starts getting some color. Then you could probably move down to a 30 or 15 to get your tan going. Drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated. I'm in Thailand now on vacation and started with a 30 and got sunburned. Beaches are great though. Don't go to Pattaya, go anywhere but there if you're a 19 year old girl, you won't like it! Go to Phuket, Koh Samet, Koh Chang, etc... You'll love the people here. Just stay calm and you'll love it. Thai people will respect you if you respect them and their culture. Have fun!

Hi, I'm a 27 yo female that's been living in Bangkok for two years. As far as sun protection I wear spf 15 on my face when walking around the city. I'm white and I never get burned. But if you're going to go on holiday to a beach then of course you need spf 40ish. Today was super hot...we had a nice 'cool season', should have been here for that! I think the pollution blocks all the suns rays..haha!
As far as sex...uh, I would stay away from all that. Seriously, this is no place for casual sex... no matter if it is a Thai or farang. There are alot of crazy men here and I wouldn't trust them. Don't get me wrong, there are nice men here, like my husband and our friends. But if you're in the 'tourist places' like Nana or PatPong, then I would be really careful. I also agree with the person who said not to go to Pataya..I don't like that place...lots of nasty old white men with 19 years olds. Yech!
Oh and by the way, I also visited Thailand when I was 19. You'll be fine.

Hi, the weather is heating up in Thailand now. Temperature daily is in the region of 33-36 degrees C. So you need to have light wear with you. Rain is not expected in most part of Thailand for another month or so. However as in any tropical country, sudden downpour is always possible. It will be good to include a light windbreaker with you.

In Thailand, if you are visiting the temples, you need to be properly dressed. Heed the advices on the tourism website posted earlier. So bring along appropriate clothing if you are going temple visiting.

The protection you're need is what you would be protecting yourself against whichever country you go - like beware of pickpockets and snatch thieves. Stay away from dimly lit and deserted places at night. Be careful of taxi drivers trying to rip you off by demanding high fares or giving free rides. If something is very cheap compared to others be very careful before paying especially for tours.

Otherwise I find Bangkok a very friendly and safe city having been there many times for business and tourism.

Yup for sun tan, get a cap and decent shades...

Also what are great are camel packs ie waterbags with drinking tubes in little backpacks... add some lemon and keep them in a freezr overnight... then ice water all day

It's hot in several ways and you need protection for all situations. Sunscreen and condoms should do it.
