How come everyone I talk to who has strong Christian beliefs wants to tell me (an undecided individual) that I am going to hell or that I will have to pull a miracle on judgement day. Wouldn't a good christian try to steer me to the light? Telling me about some fate I will have isn't very constructive.

Because the only way that they know how to make people change is to scare them in to it. That's how they've been doing it since...well..forever. They have no evidence to back anything up so they go for something that can't be proven. eg: what's going to happen when you die. Nobody knows so they can't be proven wrong.

In my opion you don't have to decide right now or ever for that matter. You're faith will come to you and your idea of what to believe will come to you. Whether it be you pick up a bible one day and decide that you want to become a pastor or you kill a rabbit and worship satan one day. (I'm not saying people who worship satan kill rabbits) It's your faith and your desicion you shouldn't be forced to beileve something by having it shoved down your throath. Good luck with your jounery through life, it's not going to get any easier as you get older only harder. But you'll figure out what you want someday, it'll just take time.

Perhaps they have realised, but cannot admit, that they have been had. Christianity, American style was hi jacked along time ago by corporations and successive governments intent on using it for their own motives. This, of course, is not or ever has been the sole domain of Christianity. Religion has been used and abused since the first believer.

True Christianity, that is following the teaching of Jesus Christ, is a peaceful, humanitian, socialistic society, intent on working together for the common good. The emphasis is on everyday living, not performing miracles or even being seen at church on Sunday. This is NOT conducive for profit nor power, but a rather happy, contented and peaceful society where hell doesn't come into it, except, that is, for the weekly offensive round the supermarket.

I, uhh, don't know the correct response to that one.

I guess it's a type of propaganda to scare you into thinking that if you don't accept their faith, then you will be punished. I, however, was not scared into that belief.

I believe that every man chooses their own fate. You cannot say, on Judgement Day that 'I was told by others to do thus' or that 'virtue wasn't convenient at the time'. This will not suffice. A general may move a soldier, and a father may claim a son, but at the end of the day, your soul is in your keeping alone.

Find your own path. Ignore the ridiculous threats and actually pay attention to the logic of the offer of faith at hand.

Never go into anything blindly. In my faith, you have to prove it in order to believe it and belief is attained only through acceptance of reason and faith. Science, in my faith, is not the enemy. Science and faith should NEVER conflict.

Seek more knowledge, because knowledge is power; power is freedom; and freedom is peace.

So may peace be upon you...

Thumbs down by every Christian to my answer, I'm sure...

Because Christians aren't perfect.

One of the hardest to follow of Jesus's teachings is to not pass judgement on other people. For some reason it makes some people feel better if they think they've got something over on another person. That's everyone that does that, not just Christians.

The problem with this kind of attitude is this: None of us are perfect! And if we can't forgive other people for their transgressions, why should God forgive us for ours?

It doesn't matter if that person is a murderer, a rapist, a thief, a *gasp* child molester, a prostitute, a homosexual, or anyone else that has commited some sort of misdeed. Jesus died for all of our sins, and all are allowed to benefit! If God has enough love to allow ANYBODY to be saved by his grace, then shouldn't we as Christians have the common decency to not judge and to forgive?

So in other words, just because Christians have treated you this way, doesn't mean that they are following the teachings of Christ when they do so.

properly, basically like all non-Christians you gets that. quite some atheists' or different non-believers' comments look very bitter and packed with anger and protection. So somewhat, it is not basically Christians, inspite of the fact that some do have disrespectful solutions too.

you are absolutely correct. a 'good christian' would try to steer you in the right direction. you have to make that choice for yourself and if not joining a church is going to send you to hell...well i guess you won't be alone then will you.
don't let the thumpers scared you into believing. follow what is in your heart. discover the word of Christ and let his spirit guide you down the right pathway. all things are in the Lord's time, not mans.

Bitter about what?
I understand what they are saying presently; but I also see the need for 'Christians' to separate true Christianity from the additional things that have been 'added' and 'taken away' from. (It would increase their credibility if they did it first too).
May you receive a large pleasant surprise there today to God's glory!!!

Many people think they ARE steering you to the light by telling you all the bad things that may happen to you if you don't believe. I guess lots of them don't subscribe to the school of thought that you catch more flies with honey than vinegar.

You are like one of those people who do not want to hear about the wrath of God and the judgment. Then let me tell you about the love of God. John 3:16 says "For God so love the world (you) that He gave His only Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." I just want to add, if you do not choose Christ as your Lord and personal saviour, then when you die you will go to Hell.

You making a sweeping statement there!

Not all Christians are bitter! They in fact show love by making you aware of hell. If you saw someone in danger, wouldn't you warn them?
