I am deathly allergic to drinking alcohol-my throat swells up, my stomach hurts, everything. I'm white. It's usually because of an allergy to hops or barley. There are some alcoholic drinks that don't contain those, so try a little portion of those (like Rum) before endulging too much and ending up in the hospital. Be careful.

Race has nothing to do with allergy to alcohol. I am allergic to it, and really I consider that a good thing. With the money I have not spent drinking I have bought a very nice Harley, an even nicer offshore race boat, and several other fine toys. With cash. My brother the hopeless drunk has a home but so big a mortgage he can't even sell it because he owes more than he could get ( lender seems to have messed up on that one), and he makes twice what I do. I have gone out to dinner with him and seen him spend $40.00 on food, and $350.00 on drinks. In about 3 hours. Then he wonders where his money goes.

Its genetic. Seriously, lots of Chinese, Japanese and other Asian peoples react very strongly to alcohol getting a red face after even the smallest amount.

Because it is a toxin, and you poisoning yourself with it! Ever wonder why they call it intoxication? Therefore everyone is allergic to alcohol, the only differance is each person's tolerance level is differant. Stop drinking or trying to drink. Ever wonder if your body is trying to tell you the same thing? Good luck

The immune system is not accepting it, WHY GO FOR ALCOHOL , THIS ALLERGY IS A BLESSING IN DISGUISE.
Might be God is happy with you and He is, to put you up for better and bigger task might be chosen one, who knows?

This is known as "Asian flush."
Many Asians lack an enzyme that is necessary to break down alcohol.
