My boyfriends in a Iraq & in a place that only get mail once every month & a half - 2 months. He's use to me baking things & sending them to him. But I guess the stuff I'm making isn't holding up very well. So does anyone know of something that would hold up good that I could make from home & send to him?

Thank you!

oatmeal bars or cookies

have you ever tried homemade pretzles? see the link below

but I don't think you should be concerned about baked goods holding up that long unless he's a really good hoarder.

It's probably not that what you send is not holding up very well.

It's probably "gone!" shared among the buddies a short time after a package is in his hands.

God Bless you for baking and sending him things.

God Bless him for serving!

I had asked the same question but my brother got mail every two weeks - big difference - I know.

I sent tightly wrapped rice krispy treats (I wrapped them in individual servings).

Someone also told me Oatmeal holds up better than choco chip and to send them in a Pringles canister, but I didn't think I could fit my cookies in the Pringles thing, so I opted for the rice krispies.

Anyway, God bless you and your boyfriend!

Cookies can hold a long time. When you pack them use a ziploc bag and suck the air out before sealing that will keep longer with no or little air in the bag. then pack so they don't crush. Peanut Brittle is great for mailing and keeps along time. Fruitcake and pound cake keeps forever.

I had the same problem when my son was over there.
Try to find some hard candy recipes in flavors like cinnamon, lemon, etc. They're not too hard to make and they keep well. Chocolate, on the other hand, is pretty easily ruined.
Maybe you can also get a cute notepad and jot a note to your honey each time you think of him and enclose the notes in his next pkg.
Good luck.

Brownies that are indivisually wrapped in foil. Maybe fruit cake even though must people would rather eat saw dust. I would check with a local bakery and see what they recommend.

almond biscotti and trail mix is good, sometimes the ones with the m&m's are the best ones.

almond biscotti as it is better as it dries out and will keep the flavor.
