You are laid on a table that slides into a large cylinder. Due to the large magnet that rotates it is loud. You will hear the techs talking to you during the procedure to make sure you are doing fine. If at any time you have a panic attack or feel uncomfortable you can tell them. You will also feel small puffs of air. The procedure can take anywhere from twenty minutes to forty five.

If you are claustrophobic you can ask for a mild sedative. The other option is an open MRI, which many places have now. The test is not painful.

I wish you much luck with your MRI and that the results of your test is what you want to hear.

It stands for Magnetic Resonance Imaging. the place an elementary x-ray shows a 2 dimensional image, the MRI will provide a three dimensional view that's in a sequence of shifting pictures so as that the section to be scanned could be seen from all angles. It additionally provides extra beneficial element in the pictures so as that smaller aspects which does no longer generally take place on an x-ray could be seen with a undeniable quantity of precision. no longer in simple terms like the x-ray the MRI test isn't invasive to the physique and is very almost danger unfastened because it relies upon extra often than not on magnetic fields.

An MRI scan is done in a long cylindrical tube and it can get quite noisy. Also if you are claustrophobic, ask if you can have some sedation before hand. Other than that, there is nothing to worry about.
