Since Israel was completely wiped out in 722 BC, why would anyone still take any of those 'promises' seriously?

I mean, I understand that since all of the 12 tribes were wiped out except the tribe of Judah, that has allowed the Christians, Muslims, Mormons and many, many cults to try to get in on the 11 open spots in God's will. But since 11 of the 12 tribes were utterly destroyed and the last tribe (The Jews) hasn't exactly had a blessed existence, why would anyone want anything to do with that nonsense?

By the way, the modern state of Israel is really more of a modern Judea. They can call it whatever they want, it doesn't make it so.

You should site what specific parts of the bible your talking about.
A lot of what the bible says has two fulfillments first with the Jewish people coming back from captivity from Babylon.
The second is referring to God blessing his servants in the future.
