Let's pretend for a moment that god does exist. Ok now let's take the fact that abrahamic religions have indeed the same god but with a diferent name, apparently god has taken diferent peoples as his favourite at diferent times in history. If this abrahamic god does exist, then we have arrived at a time in which god has no favourites. What about the other non-abrahamic gods. Budhists and Hinduists are also in big numbers, with the recent chinese economic boom and the way things are looking out to be...maybe the real god is Budha and the favourite people are the chinese, rising from the bottom.
If only there were a god that is.

God is not on either side. He granted us free will, we can be idiots or not, he will not interfere.
The fanatics in Iraq, who kill innocent men, women & children, cannot be called Freedon Fighters! Please!
We like to think that God is on our side because we, as a nation, generally try to do the right thing, unfortunatly we find that we have not always lived up to our ideals. We have made some big mistakes but with the best of intentions. They were still mistakes. Other nations see our mistakes & realize that we are not infallible. Perhaps it is time for us to realize that also.

The above is a quote from someone else's answer: You shouldn't blast others for not reading the Bible and getting something wrong when it is obvious that you have never read it either. "He wants people to be free." This is your quote and it is a crock of S*&t. The bible talks specifically about slavery and the rights to keep and how you should treat your slaves. It talks about Selling your own daughter into slavery. It talks about how slaves should respect and honor the slave/master relationship. So don't give us this crap about God wanting free people.
As to the original question...as a non-believer I find it hard to wrap my head around a Loving Mythical Father Figure who allows his children to run around and do horrible things to each other...blah blah Sin...blah blah...There is a small difference between coveting my neighbors wife and dropping cluster bombs on people and if you don't see that then there is no help for you. If God were human I would call child welfare on him and get his kids taken away.

God is not involved in war because in the Bible it states that no nation should fight each or even own flags.
All sides fighting at this time are wrong because it is all based on lies that were fed to Bush from the Jews in Israel and the other surrounding countries.

As a True Christian, my god, as my brothers and sisters who are True Muslims, is a God of PEACE . The Gods worshiped by those claiming to "Have him on their side" I suggest, worship the gods of Corporate Capitalism, Gods based on Greed and Power. Any likeness to Christian or Muslim beliefs are purely coincidental.
