I know, this is a another one of those contradictions in the bible that Christians never really answer with any logic. It makes absolutely no sense. God must be either an idoit or a cruel monster.

Know you are trapped, hehehe...Adam was suppose to tell Eve and instruct her, after all, he was there first, he stood there when the snake talked to her, if you read the Bible correctly and still he did not instruct her not to eat the fruit. (It says in the KJV after Eve ate the fruit, she gave some to her husband, so he must have been standing right next to her). Besides that, they were in the presence of God, and they should have known that to be disobediant may cause them to be out of the presence of God and who would want that. Cain didn't want it, he said to be out of God's presence was too much for him to bare.

Because God said to them, "Do not eat of the tree in the middle of the garden, the tree of knowledge." The serpent deceived Eve into thinking that God was holding out on her. Adam stood right there and watched the whole thing & did not stop her. They were both defying what God had said, they both paid the price as we still are and will until Jesus comes for us. :)

They did not need to know disobedience was bad. All they needed to to was obey God's commandment.
Even today, in the secular world, ignorance of the law is no excuse from punishment by the law.

Did your father teach you what was good or what was bad as you grew up? The issue was not that they didn't know? There heavenly father taught them, He also told them to leave his tree alone? he gave them all the tree's they could ever use including the tree of "life". He told the man that he would die if he touched or took from God's one tree. If you think in their shoes so to speak, then you must know that being perfect humans, they could reason better than you? I think it was fair for God to give them a small test of Integrity to see how they would use their Freewill.? So They did know the difference?
They also became stealer's, liers, and by their actions said to God that they could rule themselves as good as he could?
Now we the human race have been ruling ourselves for 6000 years, How are we doing? And if you are honest then you understand why we need God's Rule, see what it will do for us Revelation 21:3,4 gemhandy@hotmail.com

The "understanding" distinction between solid and undesirable became extra advantageous than expertise. The temptation became "to be like God, who's customary with of" ... i think of devil tempted the guy with the lie "you will determine what's powerful and what's evil. no longer God, yet you." there is not any crime if a regulation would not define it. Their basically regulation became to flow away that tree on my own, the only available sin for them became to consume from that forbidden fruit.

God told them not to eat from the tree. Sounds like they were told not to do it by the entity they understood created them. Sounds like they knew what not to do and did it anyway.

I guess it could be clarified more if i understood what you imply by "knowing in advance" that dissobedience was bad. In advance of what?

There was "NO" bad until Eve disobeyed God. They did not have to know that-all they had to do was to obey. Its very simple.
