An Englishman or Englishwomans reserve is that ability to reserve judgement and be patient. Judgement and patience are two ingredients of wisdom.
Far from being an undoing...they are what has made our nation great...and different from the knee jerk reacting dogs that assume superiority through barking the loudest!
In 50 years time the English will be associated to whatever power is dominant...the Americans will be an isolated and despised spent power.
Ultimate undoing????...I don't think so.
reserve is another word for 2 thousand years of cultural growth...compete with that if you can???????

No such thing.. Its a myth..I was going to say maybe its a reality for the uppers, like the politicians and the snobby uni's and the lords and ladies of the UK. But then i do read the papers and they are all sh'gging pop stars or the secretaries - so maybe not. The other parts of the world have us all wrong - we are not reserved. Watch Jeremy kyle. Its a laugh a minute...

NO WAY!!!! I am a traditional English Rose & I'd just just love a true English Gent to sweep me off my feet with all the English reserve he wishes to exude. I'm thinking James Bond, (with Sean Connery's voice of course), with a sense of humour.
