The Bible instructs believers in Christ to give generously, to give cheerfully, and to give regularly. There is no Biblical formula for how to split a tithe between a church and another Christian organization. If a Christian believes the tithe is binding on believers today, the 10% should go to the church (based on the storehouse principle of Malachi 3:10.
Further, if a believer prayerfully decides to give 10% in offerings, we believe he/she can give as the Spirit leads him/her, i.e. 8% to their church and 2% to other Christian causes. What matters is that we, as believers, make sacrificial financial offerings to God – not necessarily to the church. Each and every believer should pray to God for wisdom in regards to how much and to whom God would have them make their offerings.

Tithing is an attitude of the heart. Give it where God leads. If you do go to a church, and are well fed there, then by all means, tithe accordingly and God will bless.
However, in your case, there are very many wonderful places to tithe instead. I sometimes tithe one week out of several to Transport for Christ, which distributes Bible teaching tapes to truckers on the road. Another week I would tithe to Mastermedia International because they get the gospel to Hollywood movie studio executives. I also like giving to those that produce great Podcasts that I listen to often.
But mostly to my church because I am well fed by their ministry.

Usually it is considered bad not to go to any church at all. Can't you find a bible study, or a mid-week or a Saturday night service?
Tithing serves many purposes, one of them being that you should pay the person who teaches you the Bible in gratitude for his service as a teacher. I used to give to radio preachers back when I couldn't make it to church, and got most of my teaching from them.

Are you trying to avoid Giving to God?
If God wanted tithes to go to the Poor, instead of the Church, Those who do his service, then it would have been written in the bible. Tithes are for God, to be given to those that do his service.
Give tithes, for those that do God's service
and Give to the poor.

Tithing should be: 10% of Time, Talent, and Wealth.
Yes, wealth tithing can be to any charity that helps the poor, sick, dying, education.
Remember, tithing also includes 10% day in prayer (1.5 waking hours) ... and 10% of your talents.

It is suppose to be for your "home" church. If you decide to give to charities, then that could be your offering...but not your tithe.
Tithing is to help the Kingdom of God through your church. It helps to pay the pastor/minister. It helps to pay the electric and water bills...it even helps with missions.

Yes, the Bible says we are to bring our tithes to a local New Testament church. You can always mail them to a church if you must work during church time.

Deuteronomy 12:5-8--
5 But YOU ARE TO SEEK THE HABITATION OF YOUR FATHER; THE HOUSE OF YAHWEH--the place which Yahweh your Father shall choose out of all your tribes TO ESTABLISH HIS NAME--and THERE YOU MUST GO.
6 THERE you must bring your burnt offerings and sacrifices, your TITHES, and special gifts you have vowed to give, your freewill offerings, and the firstborn of your herds and flocks.
7 There, in front of Yahweh your Father, you and your families shall eat, and you shall rejoice in all that you have put your hand to do, because Yahweh your Father has blessed you.
8 YOU MUST NOT AT ALL DO AS WE ARE DOING HERE THIS DAY--EVERY MAN DOING WHATEVER IS RIGHT IN HIS OWN EYES.
Deu 12:13 Take heed to thyself that thou offer not thy burnt offerings in every place that thou seest:
Deu 12:14 But in the place which Yahweh shall choose in one of thy tribes, there thou shalt offer thy burnt offerings, and there thou shalt do all that I command thee.
Ecclesiastes 1:9 The thing that has been--it is what will be again, and that which has been done is that which will be done again; and there is nothing new under the sun.

We give it to our church and we put our trust in god's people to handle it but also i think god give us the ability to do good with it how ever we wish. you might also want to pray about it at tax time some people claim that on their taxes as donations.

This is a really good question as my mother has wondered about the same exact thing as she is a Christian as well. I guess you could give it to charity.
