If you have it could you tell me how you are dealing with it? Has it affected your life significantly?? Are you scared of public speeches? or even being within a very small group of unknown people??

I would appreciate some kindness here. Its a real issue which can cripple really talented people. Its just a fear that blocks out people from seeing all good things in you!
So I would appreciate some serious answers here! And am not talking about fear in cyber space. Its fear of public speeches, and talking to strangers and panic attacks associated with it.

Thanks a lot

Yes! I have it but not that bad where I can't go out at all. I still have trouble looking at people in the eyes when I speak. I'm soft spoken too. I'm afraid to confront people--especially people who have authority. I beat most of my fears by facing them. I figured if I ever wanted to see myself get a better job, get into a good school, find a date, and speak in front of people I was going to have to jump in the water. Nobody was going to do it for me. So I force myself to do little steps--each day I'll send out a resume, I'll work on my school application, instead of a guy approaching me, I'll start a conversation with him--I flirt first, I take any chance I get to speak in front of a group. It all takes practice. But the key was a little at a time. It's a way of "tricking" your mind into believing that --hey it's not so bad. It's all in the mind. Most fears are irrational. And you have nothing to lose for trying. Reward yourself when you make progress. Social phobias can be tough at first, but I believe that we can beat them. It takes time but you can do it.

I to suffer form social anxiety disorder and it has affected my life significantly at one point i was withdrawn and hid in a closet when company came to my house.I used to suffer form panic attacks am not scared of public speeches i am scared of being in a small or large group of unknown be cause i am afraid of being judged. people and while to some degree this is normal in extremes its not. However there is hope talk to your family or friends and your family doctor or health care provider. He/she may recommend that you seek counseling individual and/group or prescribe you antidepressants or both. that's what i did and it has really helped me i haven't had a panic a tack in over a year. the important thing is to talk to some one. and remember your not alone.

Good luck

I have a fear of standing up and speaking in front of groups (any size). I hate doing it, but sometimes it just has to be done. I try to not think about it too much, and hope I'll never see any of those people again, even if that's impossible, lol It helps me get through it faster.

Yes, I have Soical Phobia. But I am getting over it! I had or getting over having low self esteem afraid of what people think of me, how I look afraid to speak do not know what to say. When saying a speach infront of a crowd just remeber what your purpose of being their is and the meaning of the speach and say it.It takes time buy you will get over it, Just be yourself do not worry about if any one likes you like yourself. I am getting over mine in highschool and early adult hood, I stayed to myself never spoke. Know I Listern and observe then speak my mind not h ard kinda easy. soon I will be totally comfortable around anybody and you will to.
