you choose to do it...they will recommend you if they see what they like...then the program will chew u up and spit you out...only about 15% of those that try the program succeed...do you have the will to survive...

Sounds like you haven't joined yet. You gotta get through bootcamp first. Then a little basic infantry/combat training. Then your MOS training. Then it gets hard. If you go in as a grunt or 0321, it's gonna be a extra difficult to say the least. If you can shoot well, you can be recruited by your commanding officer from any MOS. You also gotta swim well and be OK with walking off high things. Take your time at the range seriously. Try a little squirell hunting, maybe with a pellet gun and iron sights, while camping on mimimum supplies for at least 3 days, alone (be safe of course)!!! You'll have a better idea if it's your thing.

First you need to be in really good shape. And I mean really good shape. Then when you goto your recruiter sign up for 0321 which is recon ((You are not guarnteed any job in the Infantry!!! you sign up for infantry option so they could stick you where ever they need you)) . During boot camp you need to shoot expert at the rifle range, then after boot camp you goto the School of Infantry (ITB for the infantry guys) and hopefully you are aloud to try out for recon. Going into recon gives you the best chance to become a sniper. You can also goto regular line companys but your chances arent as great of becoming a scout sniper

my husband is a Marine Corp vet from Vietnam. he was in recon and a sniper. He was chosen for both by his commanding officers after getting through boot camp and undergoing other testing and evaluation. he also had to pass much more intensive background checks than for regular service in order to gain top level security clearances.

first off, it's not as easy as u might think... before anything else, u have to make sure u qualify with your EYESIGHT... similar to what is required of commercial (and military) pilots, they set the bar high with your vision... and this is WITHOUT corrective measures and or surgery... if u don't even have that, doesn't matter how good u think you'd be, they won't even give u a shot...

secondly, just so u know, it's not as glamorous as they might portray in movies and or videogames... the parts they leave out are being able to sit in the same spot for hours, days to weeks on end... and yes this would include going to the bathroom... incase i have to spell it out for u, that means when u have to go, u do not vacate or move from your spot... u just go in your clothes... food for thought incase you've been watching one too many hollywood flicks...

You have to be selected after you try out from your unit
