I have heard that it does, but I've read online that when you brush your hair, you "spread out the oil" in your hair. - Which is a good thing. But maybe if I were you, I wouldn't brush my hair THAT much...lol.

Well, yes, the oil gland in each hair follicle exudes oil that your brush will distribute to the hair(s) as you brush. But there are several variables here: how dry your hair is, how much oil these glands exude daily, how often you wash your hair.
If it has not caused a problem so far, I don't know why it would in the future. But you might consider finding a hair style that doesn't require constant grooming to look good.
It sounds as if someone is worried about your developing OCD.

No, it doesn't cause you to get grease that isn't already there. See, the grease is sitting on your scalp, and it normally flows up the hair shaft for a short ways, but the only way to distribute the grease throughout your hair is to brush it (or comb it or run your hands through it).
(The "grease," BTW, is called "sebum.")
Anyway, let's say that your hair is looking fresh, but you haven't actually washed it for a few days. When you brush it, you're likely to distribute all of the sebum from your oily scalp throughout your hair, and if there's too much sebum accumulated on your scalp, it's likely to look limp and dirty, rather than shiny and lustrous.
If there is any problem with over-brushing at all, it's that it encourages the hair strands to break.

To start with, do not shave your head! This can be a myth and it does not work. I know because a woman at my excessive tuition tried it. I advocate Paul Mitchell's additional physique everyday Shampoo and Conditioner. One factor to hinder when trying to have the looks of fuller hair: hair gel. Some guys use so much gel that they are gluing their hair collectively making their scalp visible. For manage use hairspray.

I am not sure about brushing increasing oil production in the scalp but I believe that I have heard it before. one way to help reduce the risk would be to only brush the ends and do not allow your brush to touch the scalp if you are worried

i dont know about that one. but i do know that brushing it too much can cause ur hair to become damaged cuz u keep on pulling it and stuff. I haven't heard the grease one yet. But im not 100% sure about the damaging thing.

if you brush close to your scalp it's going to stimulate the sebaceous glands in there, making them release oil, but since you don't have a problem and i could bet you have dry hair, it's okay. Just remember to use a natural bristle brush, so you don't break your hair from over-brushing it.
