It isn't just clothes, its skin to skin contact and lack of sweat evaporation which causes the flare up in those places. Eczema is hereditary, my dad had it very badly, I have it and one of my kids has it too.

Well, everyone is different so it varies from person to person. Back in those good old days when my eczema was only mild like theirs, I would get it on the back of my knees and opposite side to my elbows. These are common places for it to begin as these are joints where sweat collects and irritates the skin so the eczema is more visible to the eyes. The best thing to do is attack the eczema while they are at a young age. Start from within, give them oils to take. Good luck x

hi, yes the reason it affects the thighs is as the previous stated....they rub against each other and aggrovates it, but the elbows (knees too....!) flare up because they are dry...they are dry parts of the body, i find that half a PEA sized amount of E45 cream does the trick, just rub it in 1 or 2 times a day and youll be laughing!!
E45 is in all chemists!! x x x

Those areas tend to either rub against clothes a lot (thighs), or are subject to stretching of the skin (elboes), which aggravates the condition.

eczema does not just pick these ares to attack first , anyone with eczema will tell you that they have there own places it attacks, i get it in my ears . i wear hearing aids and have to leave them out as my ears sweat and need to dry out. this could be the problem in your family the problem areas are getting moist and need to be kept dry.

I think it is because this is where clothes are closest to the skin and they rub the skin which causes the dryness.
