If we should believe in god, ***just in case***... then shouldn't we get busy worshipping the over 10,000 known gods...

JUST in CASE???? Why put all your eggs in one basket?

Also, you get to tell people (when they ask) that you're an Orthodox Jewish Catholic Baptist Episcopalian Pastafarian with an Agnostic bent.

Then you smile serenely and walk away.

The problem is most of them demand monogomy - or godogomy or whatever the hell.

So it would be best to follow a schedule. Now there's just no way we could deal with 10,000. 365 would be the most we could conceivably do. But what if you die on a day when you're worshipping the wrong god?

So we'd better cut that back to 12 - one god per month. Still a little risky, so I'm going to propose we stick with 7.

It's still a bit of Russian Roulette/musical chairs, but we stand a better chance.

Now, to choose the 7 most LIKELY gods.....aye, there's the rub.

"Lottery players accept below-odds compensation and are willing to consistently lose a small amount in exchange for a remote chance of winning a large jackpot. Lotteries make money by exploiting their participant's willingness to ignore the unfavorable odds. Lotteries leverage the small losses from the masses so that one or two can claim a large jackpot."

If your plan to get rich is lotto you already failed. Pascal wager is like that only the lottery is fixed so that the jackpot is not in reach. Ever.

Pascal's wager is not seriously considered anymore.

"The problem with Pascal's wager is that the assumption that belief in God is sufficient to get one into heaven is false. Demons believe and are condemned. An intellectual belief simply in God's existence is not sufficient for entry into heaven. One must agree with God and accept His terms for salvation. After all, heaven is a place where we voluntarily give up our "right" to sin, to spend eternity with the Holy One, who will turn us into perfect creatures because of our desires to be such on earth."

I have to agree that most are saying the same thing, that most are our attempts to reach our concepts of God or enlightenment. It is only through Christianity that I have found the living God reaching and proving Himself to us. All else is just hopeful speculation. Life is too short to miss the real thing. Millions have found that putting "all their eggs" in Christianity the only true way to live.

Thats the argument I use when someone brings up Pascal's Wager only to defend one God.

No because one god would be jealous and want it all to himself.
The Christian god says put no gods before him and I'm sure
other deities think the same. So there really is no *safe* way.

Now that sounds way more logical then saying believe in one god.

EXACTLY.

That would have to be the case if you follow the suggestion to it's "logical" conclusion.
