Actually belief and faith are the same thing. When you have faith in something you BELIEVE that it is true. When you believe in something without a shred of clear, unequivocal, unarguable, incontrovertible proof that it is true, that is FAITH. Most people do not seem to grasp the difference between "belief" (faith without proof) and "knowledge:" which means that it is backed by the kind of proof that is beyond all possible argument because it can be demonstrated, and can clearly be seen to anybody regardless of whether he wants to believe it or not, that it IS true.
No matter how strongly and passionately you may believe in a particular thing, that does not automatically make it true. So if you stand on the roof of a tall building, and believe with every shred of your soul and being, that you can launch yourself off that rooftop into thin air and God will keep you from crashing to the ground - word of advice, don't try it - at home or anywhere else. Believing don't make it so. lol.

Both definitions sound like the same statement a person who believes the Bible and has faith in it would say and so I don't see the difference in this context because they do take what is in a book as fact regardless of any evidence to the contrary and do say, no matter what fact or idea they face, "ok that's how god did based on what knowledge I have available".

Belief can be intellectual and passive.
Faith weathers all storms. It practices what it preaches. It is the light shining in darkness.
