what are the best type of binoculars for watching crew (rowing)?

This is for watching college and high school crew from the shore. I'm thinking of something like the Nikon Action 10-22x50 Zoom XL Binoculars.

It depends on how far away from they action you will be.
That's a lot of zoom, and especially at the 22X range, you'll find it hard to hold the binoculars still enough to get a good view, unless you get a tripod for it.
You might be happier with something more in the 7X40 or 7X50 range.
