Because they believe that they will spend the rest of their lives with that particular person. They are willing to make the committment. Oh, I know all the arguments about it being better to live together to see if you are compatible, but that is nonsense. You can not have the bond without the committment even if you do live in the same house and sleep in the same bed. It is much easier to stay unmarried so you can opt out of the relationship any time you want to do so. Even though a divorce is not difficult to get nowdays, statistics indicate that the divorce rate between persons who lived together before the marriage is much higher than it is for those who did not live together beforehand. l suspect (although I have not researched this issue), that you will find that people who have a full sexual relationship before marriage are also more likely to divorce than those who waited. Sex is a vitally important part of any marriage as a bonding of the two people. However, without the committment, it is little more than the satisfying of animal lust.

With few exceptions, it's God's plan for us. Christian marriage is a monogamous union of one man and one woman.
In such marriage we find fulfillment and someone who compliments us physically, emotionally and spiritually. It's designed permanence gives us stability and assurance.
It creates the ideal atmosphere for raising children, with a loving father and mother. It helps promote stability in society.

I love being married. I love it because it's very comforting to know that there is one person in this world that I'm guaranteed to know when I'm old. Also there is one person in this world that knows me better than anyone else and is a "safe person" to share all of my heart with. It's great to have sex while married b/c I can give all of myself to this person knowing that she's going to be there forever. Any issue we have we know that we have time to work it out and know that we are committed to work it out. We have time and are committed. We will not divorce- not matter what. We will work out our problems. Even tonight we had a small fight, and it's comforting to know that no matter what- we are committed to working it out. There's isn't another option- and it's great, safe, and awesome!
My question is why do people feel they "need a way out", what is another relationship going to give for you that your present one doesn't? How can you give all of yourself to someone and then be left for someone else. To me that doesn't seem safe.

I dont even know that, myself.
HA!! Well.... hmmm
Security? Love? Willingness to commit?
There can be NO marriage between two people unless they feel the same in their hearts.

I don't know
I love my bf, and I'm not going anywhere, but I have no desire to get married.
It's all about god, the state of califonia and signing papers, it's just not my idea of a romantic event.

Isn't it nice to have someone be true to you than just a temporary thing. It takes commitment.
