It's not Christian, if that's what you want to know. Look at it--women flashing themselves for a string of beads, people getting drunk...it's crazy!

There is nothing wrong with Mardi Gras in and of itself. People used to observe a much stricter Lent -- no eggs, no sugar, no butter, etc. Mardi Gras (French for "Fat Tuesday") was a day to use up those items. Pancakes and donuts are traditional foods for Mardi Gras. Unfortunately, some have used Mardi Gras as an excuse to engage in debauchery. THAT is not Christian.

I remember meeting Cristian!! OMG

He was such a great guy, you know. I think he was a Buddhist actually, but uh, Mardi Gras was a VERY sacred holiday for him.

It has a special name: Mardi Gra-titude for de life of Buddha.

Mardi Gras is actually a American version of Carnival in South America.
The translation for Carnival is festival of the flesh.
Basically anything goes. Grab all you can. Let your morals drop, if you had any.
Debauchery, drunkenness let it all out. Unbridled wanton pleasure. Pure sensuality.

What do you think? You think that Christians are into such things?
Come on.

Mardi Gras evolved (Oh No! He said "evolved") as a festival as a direct result of Christianity. It was once customary to refrain from eating meat during the Lenten season, which begins of Ash Wednesday. Mardi Gras is the French for "Fat Tuesday," upon which a feast of meat was customarily held.

The Carnival arises from the same practice. "Carnival" is derived from Latin "carne" or "meat, " and "levare," to cease or leave off, because upon the arrival of Ash Wednesday, eating meat would be forbidden.

From what I have seen, yes. If the "party" causes one to sin, then it is against a Christian's belief.
