thr parents will stand aling side the child agreeing to help the child in the walk with God. i'm very surprised your child is being baptised and you don't know what's going to be happening?! the child will be annointed with oil, water and given a baptismal candle - as a light of Christ. they will probably be offering a class for the family - one thing to know -- ask them questions - no matter how silly youmight think -- the priests do NOT mind questions!!

I'm glad to hear that your child is becoming a member of God's Holy Church. The godparents' only official purpose at the actual baptism is to serve as witnesses. They don't actually have to do anything but be there. Their other function comes afterward - to share with the parents the responsibility of raising the child in the holy Christian faith. Most parishes have an instructional session for parents of children being baptized. Even if you don't receive such instruction, don't worry. The ceremony is very simple. The priest does almost everything, and will tell you what to do when the time comes.

I must speak of the Truth and it is this my Child. Being Baptized at a young age means nothing really their is no effect because the child must know About Jesus and his teaching and must have a relationship with him. Until the Child matures he we be as if he was born with Sin. The last thing I will say is that if you are getting baptized by water it must be in the Name of The Father The Son and The Holy Spirit.

Follow the biblical baptism ~ first, she must express faith in Jesus Christ by knowing that He is the Son of God, and forgiver of sins. She must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Baptism is an outward sign of an inward relationship with Christ. There must be a time that you expressed faith in Christ as well ~ have you made that decision? A lot of Catholics have not and are being mis-led in their faith.
