Mom's Dinner Party Chicken
2 hours 15 min prep
Change to: servings US Metric
12 pieces chickens
margarine
2 cans cream of mushroom soup
1 3/4 cups milk
1/4 cup sherry wine
4 slices bread
1/4 cup slivered almonds
Brown chicken in margarine in large frying pan, a few pieces at a time.
Line a large baking dish big enough to hold chicken with aluminum foil, shiney side up.
Place browned chicken in pan.
Cover each chicken piece generously with margarine (I use about a 1/2 to 1 tablespoon per each piece).
Mix the 2 tins of cream of mushroom soup and the tin of milk together and wisk until smooth.
Pour over chicken and bake, uncovered, at 350 for 1 hour.
Meanwhile, cube the 4 slices of bread and toast in margarine in frying pan with almonds until bread and almonds are nicely browned.
Remove chicken from oven.
Sprinkle sherry over chicken;sprinkle almonds and toasted bread cubes evenly over all.
Return to oven, and cook for another 30- 45 minutes longer or until done (If you find the chicken getting a little dry add more sherry and milk).

2 (10 ounce) packages frozen chopped spinach, thawed and squeezed dry well
1 cup grated parmesan cheese
Brown meat in enough oil to keep meat from sticking, about 5 minutes; drain fat.
Add onions, celery, carrots, and cook another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add tomatoes, salt, oregano, pepper, and garlic powder (all seasonings to taste).
Bring sauce to a boil, then lower the heat, cover, and let simmer for 1 hour.
Meanwhile, cook your pasta, timing it so that it is ready when the sauce has finished simmering.
Mix pasta, sauce and spinach all together, then pour into 2 greased 9x13" casseroles.
Sprinkle each casserole with Parmesan cheese and bake at 350 F for about 30 minutes, or until bubbly (uncovered).

Well depend when it is. Well evrybody loves ribs some make some ribs, some messed potatoes, salad, biscuits, also make some mac and cheese. But for dessert make a couple of cream pies they are easy to make. Well one say the party is at 7 and the food should be ready by then. Well get enough ribs for everybody and put them in a big pan or if you need to put themin 2 pans and put oven at 275 about 12 noon. put foil paper on pan then put more on top of pan and put ribs in foil and make sure they are covered good then put in oven. AND around 5:30 check them they should almost be all cooked, then apply the Bar-be-que sause try the mesquite flavored it good. make sure you put teh ribs with meat up and rub sause all over and parchly cove them and put in oven till it ready to come out. They will be tender and good. Even an 80 yr old guy would be able to eat them. well the messed potatoes and mac and cheese are easy to make. Now the cream pie get 2 graham pie shells. get 2 pudding mixes 2of one and 2 of other. Also get whip cream enough for both pies. Well make the pudding get the instant one. well put have of the pudding in the shell then put some cookies around the pudding then put the rest of the rest of the pudding in the pie make sure there's room for the whip cream on top and sprinkle it with chocolate shavings or anything you have and do the other one the same way. and you have a feast they will be talking about all over the neighborhood.

Well...usually cooking a big meal for a group can be tough. Presentation, time, keeping everything warm or cold in time for dinner. I think the best way to go is to make a nice pasta, salad, and bread sticks. Serve with a nice wine and the dinner will be a hit! It's easy to prepare pasta and have it sit with a cover to stay warm...salad goes right into the fridge and can be pulled out when ready...and bread stick need to be popped in the oven about 10 minutes before everyone is ready for dinner. Also, set out a cheesecake for dessert. Sounds great to me. Enjoy!!

Stephanie may have a good idea here. Pasta is easy to cook quickly (buy fresh rather than dried, it cooks quicker) and it is not hard to make a tasty bolognese to go with it in a big pan. Whatever you choose, aim for simple quality food rather than fancy dishes that require more preperation. if you have a decent oven do not be afraid of trying a traditional style roast dinner as they depend more on correct cooking times rather than any "skill" as a chef to achieve good results.

One of my favorite dinner party menus includes Sauteed Spinach with brown rice.

Saute garlic, onions, and chicken pieces until done. Turn off the heat. Squirt juice from half a lemon into the pan and add fresh spinach. Stir and serve over cooked brown rice.

You can plate this or let people serve themselves. Everyone loves it, even folks who don't like spinach!

Remember to keep it simple and remember that people like different things. So I would suggest:

Grilled Steak (Filets), Grilled Salmon, or Grilled Chicken

Baked potatoes with all of the trimmings on the side

Simple Romaine Salad with veggies cut big (so that people can pick them out if they don't like them)... Be sure to include two dressings, a generic Viniagrette and maybe Ranch

Simple rolls or French Bread with REAL butter (on the side)

Good Luck!!!

ppl tend to show off more when cooking for others...so how about a quick pasta with yummy sauce and garlic.

Served with mashed potatoes and gravy.

For a starter, mayber potatoe soup or clam chowder and also leave out bread if they don't like the food. But i doubt it.

For side dishes, leave out salads, corn, and the mashed potatoes i mentioned earlier.

the main course should be the pasta and some garlic bread.

IF THAT DOESNT FILL THEM UP, HEAD TO MCDONALD'S OR PIZZA HUT! LOL! JK!

Of course it depends on your kitchen and facilities but I think the easiest thing is something you can make in a real big pot, like chile, stew, or some other type of casserole. It's easier to cook something like that for many people, (because it's in one pot), as opposed to individual steaks, chops, fish fillets, etc, and side dishes of vegetables.

Why not do a soup or salad as an appetizer, (one pot or one bowl), and then like I said chile, stew, mac & cheese, etc., for the main course.

If they are meat eaters, I would cook a pile of chili & rice or spaghetti bolognese.(If you are cooking lots of rice I would recommend an electric rice cooker) For pudding you could do something simple like a fruit salad. If you supply plenty of decent wine, people should be happy. If they are vegan teetotallers it might be more difficult!

Go to Rachel Ray's site. She just did one of her 30 minute meals as a dinner party. It was real simple and sounded delicious!
