Obviously it's more than just an enzyme reaction. The four basic levels of life are:
Matter,
Life,
Consciousness, and
Self-Awareness.
I don't know where you fall on that scale, but it's a useful start.

"life" is a word we use to describe things that have a metabolism and reproduce.
