does anyone know about alternators?

Ok I have a 1999 ford escort that needs a alternator and i want to know which years will fit a 1999 ford escort. and if it matters if it's located in the front or the back of the motor?

The mounting will make a difference. 1997 up should work as long as it is off of the same engine. (2 door is different from 4 door)

Yes it matters on which side it mounts because of the mounting holes.
The alternator from 1997 to 2002 are all the same on escorts.
