As has been pointed out, yes, Glock is a brand. Yes, an ignorantly phrased question, but ignorance should not be held against anyone willing to learn.

What kind of gun buyer do you expect you will be: A first time purchaser? Or a one-time purchaser?

If you're wanting to get into shooting, and plan on getting more guns if you like the sport, I'd start with a .22. Yes, revolvers are simpler to learn and use, but anyone of average intelligence can quickly learn to operate a semi-automatic pistol. If you start with a .22, ask your local gun merchant to show you some double-action .22 revolvers, or single-action .22 pistols. Once you're comfortable shooting it, you can move up to a larger caliber.

If you just want to purchase one gun, to have for defense and target shooting, I'd recommend something 9mm or larger. Again, check out both revolvers and semi-auto pistols. Each has advantages and disadvantages.

Personally, I prefer semi-auto pistols, as they typically hold more rounds and have a slimmer profile (helpful when carrying in an inside-waistband holster). However, if you're going to carry in very cold weather, a hammerless revolver is easy to carry in your coat pocket, allowing your to keep your hands warm, and fire all your rounds through the fabric if necessary.

Well for all the a$$holes here I do belive there are many different types or models of Glock handguns, not many different brands of Glock handguns. I like my Glock 22 40 I have had many handguns in the past this is my most favorite have owned it since 95 not much for looks but I dont care what the person at the end of my barrel thinks of the look of my gun. I know it will fire anytime I need it to.

I'm going to assume that this is your first gun, therefore you should not be buying a pistol. Pistols are very difficult to shoot accurately, and a lot of practice is needed to perfect your trigger pull first. This is done on a small caliber rifle to begin with, just like you'd begin pilot lessens in a small prop driven Cessna before moving up to 747 jet. The best you can do here would be a Ruger 10/22 - which is a .22 caliber rifle. The bullets are 9 bucks for 550 rounds compared to a 45acp pistol price of 11 bucks for 50 rounds. You will get in over 10 times the practice with a .22 for the same price. An incorrect trigger pull can throw your rifle off several inches at 25 yards. It can throw your pistols round several FEET off at the same distance. If you are absolutely going to buy a pistol, and this is your first one, don't buy a Glock. Glock does not have a safety, and you're going to need one.

If you're thinking of buying a gun for the first time, Then I would no recommend you the Glock, None of the Glocks have mechanical safety on them, If you are a first time buyer, I Will recommend you to buy either a Beretta or a Smith and Wesson with mechanical safety on it for your safety and the safety of others. Do not take this as an insult, take it as a concept. the reality is that you have never own a handgun and you need for you own protection to get familiar with it before ending up in serious trouble. but, if the gun you really want is this Glock one, you can also go to a shooting range with a person with experience on firearm, rent one, and familiarize yourself with it before buying it, you might end up buying yourself another firearm since Glock is nothing but a popular cheap name.
Good luck!

Well, the brand or make would be Glock. You can't go wrong with the Glock Model 19 in .9mm as a first gun. Take whatever safety course your State may require. Read the owner's manuel and never point your gun at anything you are not willing to destroy. Even a .9mm will shoot through a lot of dry-wall.

If you aren't real familiar with guns you might want to consider a revolver for a first gun. But if you want an auto you can't go wrong with a Glock.

Glock is the Brand ..but for a first time purchase i'd recommend a Glock 17,19,20 or 21.
Even though once you buy one.. you'll probably buy a few more.

I say go with the Glock Model 23 in .40 caliber. You can buy an aftermarket Glock model 32 barrel in .357 sig. All it takes is a barrel swap to be able to shoot both calibers. You don't need to change mags, springs, or anything else.

I bought a Glock model 23 for $479 and then an extra barrel for .357 sig for $100. It's like getting 2 guns for about $600.

Since you aren't even aware that Glock is the BRAND, first I would take one or more firearms safety courses. Then I would start buying every magazine on the rack, and research every website I could find. Then I would handle several, (shoot, if you can find a dealer who offers the service), and pick out which is best for you. As a previous answerer said, I would strongly consider a revolver as a first time purchase, It is much more failsafe, and easy to maintain. If a revolver just isn't cool enough, perhaps gun ownership isn't for you. I own several handguns, and have to admit that I'm most confident with my .38 special revolver. Even though I spend alot of time at the range, having never been in a situation where I've needed to use a weapon for defense, I can't honestly say how I would react in a tough situation. We all want to be steady as a rock, most of us won't be. With the revolver, I feel I'm more likely to react smoothly in a close situation, and I feel I'm less likely to do something stupid or incompetent with the double action revolver, than one of my autos.
ADDED: Please don't think I was chastizing you for your question. Anytime someone is trying to learn, they aren't ignorant. As a responsible gun owner, 2nd amendment advocate, and NRA member, some of the questions here never cease to amaze me. Gangster wannabe's, "sniper" wannabe's, and people who think of firearms as cool toys, rather than tools, constantly flood this forum with inane and sometimes frightening questions. If it appeared I was lumping you into this category, I apologize. Good luck.

Yeah, same thing as what he said above. I know it's delusional in rap music that a Glock is any black handgun, and let me guess, you're thinking of get a MAC-10?

Please know what you're talking about before saying it.

Well, I would get a Glock 17 for a full-size, high-capacity 9mm but you're just a kid who doesn't know anything.
