Yes! I am a member and have been my whole life - 26 years...
I love the church, love the gospel and love my Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ. I am so thankful for all the blessings given to me because of obedience to the ordinances of the gospel. I love going to the temple, I was eternally sealed to my wonderful husband in Oct of 2005 and I cannot express in words just how lucky we are and blessed to have such a loving Heavenly Father to allow us to be with our families forever!
There is so much incorrect information about the doctrine of the church, some of which has been show-cased on this site, just please, go to the source for your info. Ask your Heavenly Father if these things are true, if you are sincere I promise you will receive an answer...I know I have received countless answers to prayers. Try going to church a few times with your friend(s), speak with the missionaries...you will have such a different and wonderful spirit - because it will be the Holy Ghost manifesting to you the truthfulness of the gospel...

Speaking for the "anti-mormons", if there is one thing you can count on, it is that we have studied up on what we talk about, and we do not reference books or other things that we have not verified as accurate. Because the reason we are "anti-mormon" (at least some of us) is because we were once Mormon, and then started doing research and learned that the church is not true. We have also learned that if you want to know the REAL history of the church, a Mormon, or a Mormon leader is the worst source. Most Mormons don't know the REAL history, and the Mormon leaders won't tell it to you. Your best bet is to read books such as "No Man Knows My History" By Fawn Brodie. It is a meticulously referenced biography of Joseph Smith. If you read it as I have, and then look into the references cited, you will learn alot about Joseph that the church will NEVER tell. So to answer your question, NO. We don't take anyone's word for it, because we did that with the church, and look where it got us. We verify everything before we accept it as fact.

A lot of what I have heard about the LDS theology and mythology sounds pretty wacked out. But I've known several Mormons, very good friends with one family, and they have all been very nice, normal folks.
From what I understand, you cannot go into their temples if you are not a member, so I don't know if you could really check it out beforehand.

I cannot say I agree with their teachings I am a non-denom Christian. I lived in Utah and was treated poorly for not being Mormon. My problem is that they have books in addition to the Bible I do not agree with this, The bible tells us you are not to take from or add to this book. You have to do what you believe is best for you. I do not believe in a specified religion I believe in Jesus Christ being my Lord and Savior. I believe that I am saved by grace ( Eph 2:8). I just suggest you search your heart pray read the Bible and go where God leads you because everyone of course will have there own opinion I just had a bad experience myself. I must say that since my experience in Utah I have met many very nice Mormons this is not my reason for not agreeing with the LDS faith it was just hurtful to live there and feel so ostracized.

I'm LDS, and so yeah, personally, I love it.
But do make sure if you join, it's for the right reasons - meaning you've done the personal research, work, and prayer and have gained a strong personal conviction that it's true (that way if your friend ever had to move away, you'd be strong enough in the faith to still be active on your own).
Ask your friend to help you learn more about it, your friend (and God) will be your best and truest resources.

I use to be a part of the mormon church. However as I got older and moved out on my own I realized that organized religion is not for me. I have respect for church members though. I believe if you follow the guidlines and teachings it can help you be a good person.
If you want to know more about the church you should take a seminary class, go to sunday school and do your own personal research as well.

I know the church very well. Meet the missionaries and check it out... but here's the weird stuff you need to ask about:
1 Is it true that in the temple, we must wear funny clothing? are there special handshakes... (ask what happens in the temple, don't wait till you get there to find out).
2. Is it true that a goal of the afterlife is to be a god of your own planet with multiple wives to make spirit children to populate that planet?
3. Tithing.. some bishops will request you end of year pay stub to see if you really gave ten percent of gross income....
Otherwise... it's a good church with Nice people (really, as far as churches go...)

Do not believe in it's teachings, nor do I like their teachings.. However I have several friends who are Mormons and they are lovely people, helpful, dependable, moral, trustworthy, would give you "the shirt off their back"...can't say enough good about them.
What works for one doesn't always work for another.

I don't think u should "give it a try". Try going and learning about their doctrine, they do have a lot of rule which are different. Also, invite missionary over to talk about what it it u believe and how it different from what the church believes. Nobody should ever just "give it a try" when it comes to ur faith. It’s important to define what u believe in. (I go to a Catholic church but I’m not Catholic, b/c I don't believe in the Pope thing.) Nothings wrong with going to socialize ether. As long as u don't convert or change what u believe just to fit in or make someone happy.

Yeah I have heard of it, far to much to post here. No, I do not believe in their teachings, but I do respect most of them.
See some missionaries, go to the Church and investigate. Learn as much as you can. Personally, I don't think any religion has it right but if you are going to believe in one I would say Latter Day Saints are as good as any other one.
