My mom has a fever of 101.8 and she's been takin some pills, i think 500mg every 6 hours. She is feeling chills and is very cold but her head feels really hot. She's had it for about a day now but she doesn't want to go to the doctor. What should we do?

Take some paracetamol (I beleive its called Tylenol in the USA)

Get your mom to lie down and sponge her head, neck shoulders and legs with tepid water. Allow the water to dry on the skin.

Make sure she keeps sipping water to avoid dehydration. If cold or iced water makes her feel nauseous, try giving her cooled boiled water at room temperature.

If she continues to be feverish she must see the doctor!! It could be something serious!

Aside from taking medications that will lower her temperature (antipyretics like paracetamol, etc). I agree that she should take lots of liquids. What you or she can do is do a sponge bath all over the body especially on areas like the arm pits and groin. After the sponge bath pat the wet areas dry. An ice bath may also help. Also some teas (i.e chrysanthemum tea) will help break the fever. Of course it is important to know what is causing he fever so that the proper treatment can be given. Go see your doctor.

Try putting a cool compress on the back of her neck. Use a wet washcloth, not too cold, just cool to the touch. Even if she feels cold, she shouldn't be covering up with a blanket or wearing too many layers of clothes. She might also try a cold bath, if nothe else works. If the fever gets over 103, then she really need to go in.

Make sure she's drinking lots of liquids.
If the fever persists, or if it becomes worse, bring her to a doctor immediately. An extremely high fever can be mortal.

Sponge bath, drink liquids, and take aspirin unless she has some problem with that. There are substitutes, but there's nothing like the real thing.
