Well actually...asking someone random is also very flattering. The advantages of taking a friend to prom is that you all ready know the person and the nervousness usually associated with a new date is relieved when attending with a friend. But then again, you lose some excitement (rushing of the heart beat, heavy breathing etc) when you take a friend. Also consider, if it's senior prom and you take a new girl to the dance and you guys hit it off, that because a senior is almost done with school, he/she would have to make a decision regarding the continuation of dating the new person or just moving on to college or whatever the future may hold. Honestly? Don't mention the crush part, just be nice, yourself and more importantly be assertive and confident....even if you're not very confident in yourself, just pretend, people can't tell the difference.
But remember #1 rule of prom, have fun...lots and lots of fun.

It isn't always true. I would use a friend as the backup option, because the whole point of a prom date is to be with someone you will have fun with. But try for the girl you have a crush on only if you think you will enjoy the prom with her for most of it. If you think you'd have more fun with a friend at the prom than your crush, go with the friend. The whole point of the prom is to enjoy a party before school is over.

Yo man. I havent been in american colleges, i was born in greec and here we do not make this kind of things it is a shame they dont give a damn about youth here. They start doing something now but I have finished school since six years. Any way lets get into the subject. You can ask wichever girl you like. Dance helps people to get closer. So if there is any girl that you like, you should go and ask her to dance with you. And if she does not want it is her problem., then go and ask a friend of yours.TAke care

I had a better time at the Senior prom with my friends than at the Junior prom with my boyfriend. Proms are supposed to be fun i would take a good friend. Save the "date" for a more intimate time. But, follow your heart.

Look - quite simply ask her out. What happens if some other asks her to the prom and she starts a relationship with him. Then you luck out. So I say check your fly is done up and ask her to the prom. She can only say yes or no right.

It is always awkward to ask anyone to something like that, especially someone you like. Probably it's easier to ask a friend...but what if she gets a wrong idea? I say it's the best to ask the girl you like.

I'm sick of these people asking simple questions about something so ridiculous & the answer is right in front of them. I'm not trying to be rude but thanks for the 2 points. but let me tell you, whoever told you that probably wants you out of the way so that he could ask your crush to the prom instead

Proms tend to be the most stressful social gatherings you could imagine.
About 3% of teens commit suicide before prom (sighting "no date" as the reason).
I've gone to proms before and for the most part I thought they sucked.
#1 I go to the prom with the intent of getting sex afterwards.
Of course, you gotta go to a cheap motel to really get your money's worth.
#2 I went to a college prom and it totally SUCKED. No one danced and the food was whack. The fried chicken ruled though.
You might consider driving to another state and hiring a Hooker/escort to go with you - dressed really slutty.

he's in simple terms working game on you darlin! If he performs the game suitable he could have the two one in all you in one evening. If this is actual... forget approximately him. If he's afraid to be seen with you through fact of social status... forget approximately him! If it fairly is neither of those... he's far to wishy washy! try searching for somebody slightly extra good that knows what he needs. reliable good fortune! Oh yeah.. and don't be afraid to flow to promenade on my own! Independence could be very attractive!
